Born in a middle-class Marwari family in the vibrant city of Raipur in Chhattisgarh, Ramdev Agarwal's journey to success was not pre-determined. Growing up in a simple environment, he imbibed the values of hard work and perseverance from childhood. These values became the hallmark of his illustrious career.

Ramdev Agarwal's father used to do traditional farming. Due to which there was so much income that the basic needs of the family could barely be met. There was no other source of income in the family. Agarwal's beginnings in the financial world were humble. He came to Mumbai with the aim of coaching CA and exploring the world.

He wanted to make something of his own by obtaining a CA degree from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Only then will they be interested in reading the balance sheets of various companies. He used to read and analyze the balance sheets of many companies every day. Gradually he started getting interested in the stock market.

He learned a lot about the stock market and decided to pursue a career. But the biggest problem was lack of money. That's why he was looking for an opportunity. One day he met Motilal Oswal. During the conversation, he came to know that Oswal's brother was looking for a good stock broker and from here in 1987, he started his professional journey as a sub-broker.

He had not even imagined that this beginning would change the direction of Indian finance. In the busy financial markets of Mumbai, Agarwal partnered with Motilal Oswal, himself a visionary. Together they laid the foundation of Motilal Oswal Group and started providing better services to the customers.

In 1990, Ramdev Agarwal understood the power of investing and started investing in the stock market. By that time he had earned ₹15 lakh and invested the entire amount in the stock market. Fortunately, that time was the bull market of Harshad Mehta and in 2 years he made Rs 30 crore from Rs 20 lakh.

These 2 years were golden times for him. But there was no dearth of challenges in his journey. His portfolio collapsed after the Harshad Mehta scam of the 1990s, and a large part of it was wiped out. Then he understood where the mistake had happened. Especially in stock selection. Undeterred by these setbacks, in 1994 he travelled to the US and drew inspiration from his idol Warren Buffett.

In the hallowed atmosphere of Berser Hathaway, he learned the invaluable art of value investing and laid the foundation for his future. Upon returning to India with a new perspective and clarity, he completely changed his investment strategy. Now he has left a portfolio of over 225 cities and focused on just 15 quality cities.

This strategic shift proved to be a game changer for him and his portfolio reached new heights. After extensive research and learning, he developed his unique QGLP strategy. Which includes Q: Examining Quality Business and Management, G: Examining Quality Business and Management, LP: Examining Leadership and Management, The Corporate Numbers Game and The Art of Wealth Creation.

These books offered practical guidance to new investors. Agarwal's influence was not limited to personal wealth alone. He wrote several books to share investment knowledge. Such as The Corporate Numbers Game and The Art of Wealth Creation. These books offered practical guidance to new investors. In his career he always gave priority to honesty and ethics.

For example, in 1996 he bought shares of Hero Honda for ₹30 and sold them in 1916 for ₹2600. Ash Motors bought for 900 and sold for ₹00. Infosys was bought for ₹900 and sold for ₹11,000. Shares like Ajanta Pharma Vasia Bank also gave him huge success. But he suffered huge losses in financial technologies.

Bought at 1050 and sold at 10050. In an interview, he admitted that he suffered losses due to not doing proper analysis of the company's management. Because there was corruption in the management of the company and the share price fell. According to Agarwal, knowing which stocks to buy is more important than knowing which ones to avoid.

After changing his strategy he invested in only 15 quality stocks. At that time his portfolio was Rs 25 crore which increased to Rs 100 crore in less than a year. But due to recession in 2003, it reduced to 30 crores. Yet he did not sell a single share because he had faith in the stocks he had chosen.

After the recession, the portfolio grew rapidly again. In 2008, he started an asset management company for portfolio management of wealthy individuals and in 2013, a housing finance business which grew rapidly over time. Agarwal's influence was not limited to personal wealth alone. He wrote several books to share investment knowledge.

Like The Corporate Numbers Game and The Art of Wealth Creation. These books offered practical guidance to new investors. In his career he always gave priority to honesty and ethics. His transparency earned him the admiration of his peers and the trust of his clients. Due to this honesty, he was awarded the prestigious honour like National Certificate of Honour by the Central Board of Direct Taxes.

His reputation grew over the years and in 2018 he received the Chhattisgarh Citizen of the Year honour. Despite this, he remained humble and did not forget his life values. A candid conversation with Ramdev Agarwal reveals his optimism and vision. His belief in the Indian stock market is based on deep economic understanding and a thorough grasp of the market.

His energy and passion inspires anyone when he talks about the future of India. He believes that India will once again become the golden bird. This is not just a statement but a symbol of his unwavering faith in the fundamental strengths of his country. Everyone can be as optimistic as he is about the future he envisions where corporate profits will soar and technological progress will drive economic growth.

When Ramdev Agarwal reflects on his journey, one thing becomes clear: his legacy lies not in money or awards but in the people whose lives he touched and the values he upheld. For him, true success lies not in personal gain but in the greater impact he had on others. As they continue to set new boundaries in the world of investing.

His legacy continues to be an example of vision, integrity and unwavering resolve. In a world where financial markets are often viewed with suspicion. Dev Agarwal is a shining example of what can be achieved when investing with integrity, humility and a spirit of creating value for all.
