01. Hello, welcome again, subscribers. My name is Ali. This is my world of stocks. Welcome back to our inaugural Big Buyers column, where this time we look at none other than the infamous Katie Wood, who as you know is always one of the most controversial figures in the market, largely due to her focus on high-risk, market-disrupting tech stocks.

02. Well, as the broader market has suffered from a rather sharp sell-off in AI stocks, especially over the past month, investors are panicking over rising capital expenditures, interest rates, memory costs, and the question of whether these multi-billion dollar technology investments will pay off. So, Katie Wood did what she always does.

03. She immediately went back into the market to buy up some of her favorite stocks on the sell-off. And actually, I say " sag," but some of these stocks have actually fallen by huge amounts from their highs, from the very top. Today we'll take a look at three of her most recent purchases , amounting to millions of dollars spent this October alone.

04. And, as always, I'll let you know whether I agree with these purchases, whether I think they're actually good on the sit-down, or whether I decide to stay away from them. So it will be interesting. Hit the like button , and let's just get straight to the point, my friends. OK. First up is an exciting AI energy bet that has seen its price fall brutally recently, namely SMR pioneer, Energy, X-Energy, ticker X-E, of which Katie just bought over 700,000 shares this month, equaling about $7.5 million.

05. Opening up the stock chart, we see that X-E has fallen another 35% over the past month alone, continuing the terrible momentum since their high-profile IPO in April. Since then, they have completely collapsed in price, losing over 70% of their value. So why are investors dumping these stocks so aggressively?

06. Well, you know, it really comes down to their current deadlines and the heavy cash outlays that continue to haunt them at every turn. Sorry. Also, while the long-term vision of nuclear energy to power AI data centers sounds extremely promising, the fact is that X-Energy will have its first commercial reactors in operation likely only in the early 2030s.

07. And until that happens, the market will largely perceive them as just an R&D and engineering company burning a bunch of money. Well, sometimes it can even be normal. This could really work for them because, you know, a significant portion of the market is trying to look into the future when possible and when there's enough hype to fuel these rallies.

08. But the thing is, AI stocks entered the year so overheated that we're starting to see fear and doubt about whether we've gone too high, too fast, now seeping into these names . And because it costs so many billions of dollars in capital expenditure, the less profitable companies will always be the ones that suffer the most, because if costs fall and contracts start disappearing, those are the companies that will have to dilute shareholder shares just to stay afloat, and in the worst-case scenarios, they could even go bankrupt.

09. I personally don't see this happening to X-Energy, but just so you know, this year alone analysts are predicting their net loss to grow to over $430 million , and negative free cash flow to approach half a billion. And so, in a market where investors are already so nervous about high-risk technologies, this outflow of money is forcing short-term traders to quickly exit the game.

10. On the other hand, this is why Katie is really in a hurry to buy out a slump or a collapse. Because, if you look more broadly, tech giants are facing a looming energy crisis. AI data centers require astronomical amounts of uninterrupted 24/7 electricity, which wind and solar power simply cannot provide 24/7.

11. So hyperscalers understand that advanced nuclear power will truly be the only kind of carbon-free solution that can scale to the level they need. Well, you know, instead of spending about 15 years building giant power plants, X-energy decided to develop its own small modular reactors that even use their own fuel.

12. Unlike conventional reactors that use water-cooled uranium rods, X uses helium-cooled balls covered with ceramic layers that can't even melt, which helps to completely prevent nuclear accidents, which is obviously very important for the development of nuclear energy. Right now, as we speak, they're building out their TH-1 fuel facility in Tennessee, where they completed vertical construction last quarter, and they're on track to begin commercial fuel production by 2028.

13. This is a good sign. They already have huge support. Amazon, for example, not only owns a significant stake, but has also entered into a partnership with X-energy to commission over 5 GW of SMR capacity by 2039. Dow Chemical is building a four-reactor plant at its Texas site, where construction permits are expected in early 2027, and Centrica is also partnering with X-energy to source up to 6 GW in the UK, giving XE a future portfolio of around 11.5 GW across 144 reactors.

14. Sorry, friends. Wait a second. Let me just take a sip of water. Okay, I apologize for that. So, uh, what did I stop at? Well, uh, I think the bottom line is that there's obviously a huge demand for X Energy right now. And, you know, again, the support from Amazon, which is literally the largest data center operator in the worldโ€”that's a very good , very valid reason to be optimistic about the future of X-Energy, right?

15. Well, in fact, analysts on average still believe the stock price will more than double from its current lows. So, do I approve of Katie buying stocks on a downtrend, and do I buy them myself? Well, for Katie's high-risk innovation portfolio, I think it makes perfect sense. This is exactly the type of company and technology you would expect someone like her to invest in.

16. And, damn it , I have to say that the more stocks fall, the more my intuition tells me that I should definitely buy at least a small speculative stake for my own portfolio. I'll be honest with you: the more they fall, the higher they rise on my watch list, and the more often I think about them. But the only reason I haven't bought them myself yet is because I already own a few different energy stocks, some of which are very solid, like NextEra and Duke Energy, and some of which are a little more speculative, like the one that comes next.

17. So, moving on to the second purchase, we have another big name in nuclear energyโ€” fast fission and clean energy pioneer Oklo, ticker OKLO, which Katie also bought nearly 200,000 more shares of for her funds, spending over $5 million on in October alone. Now, opening the stock chart, we see that Oklo has experienced a real roller coaster ride over the past year: after the company was one of the most popular on the market throughout 2025, at one point it increased in price almost ninefold.

18. She was at the peak of her popularity. But it has since collapsed from those highs, falling nearly 80% in the last year alone and more than 30% in the last month alone. So , what's going on here? Well, it's essentially the same story as X-Energy, where tech investors got scared of AI bubbles and rising interest rates, and the first stocks they dumped were these high-risk, revenue-less companies.

19. Well, Oklo is also still in the early stages of its operations. In fact, analysts predict that their revenue this year will be just under $3 million , while their net loss will exceed $162 million. So when you have a market cap of around $5 billion , backed by less than $3 million in current sales and heavy losses, yes, short-term traders are likely to start panic selling at the first sign of trouble.

20. But then why is Katie buying during a crash? Well, unlike conventional nuclear reactors, which cost over $10 billion and take about 15 years to build , Oklo is developing compact Aurora power units, which are modular micro-reactors ranging in capacity from 15 to 75 MW. And their design is radically different from outdated stations.

21. Sorry. Let me take another sip of water. So, speaking of their design, these are again completely different designs than the older stations. Instead of water for cooling, Oklo uses liquid sodium, which allows the reactor to operate at much lower pressures at ultra-high temperatures, using natural physics and heat circulation to self-cool without external pumps.

22. And even better, they run on metallic uranium fuel, which can last for a decade without refueling. And they can even process used nuclear waste to generate even more energy. This is truly exciting technology, and unlike some other startups, Oklo has just proven that they can actually build these objects in the real world.

23. In Texas, their Groves 1 test facility just completed the fastest private reactor construction in modern history, giving them a proven and reproducible blueprint for future commercial sites. In addition, their commercial order portfolio is already huge. Meta recently signed a deal with Oklo to build a 1.2 gigawatt clean energy campus in Ohio to power its AI data centers .

24. They have a 12 gigawatt deal with Switch, a 500 megawatt deal with Equinix, and they're even working with the Department of Energy and technology industry leaders on a $ 200 million federal initiative to accelerate the adoption of nuclear power for AI. And best of all, Oklo has the financial balance to outlast expectations.

25. They finished last quarter with over $3 billion in cash and marketable securities, with virtually no debt. And Wall Street is clearly paying attention to this discount. Among the 23 analysts covering the stock, the average 12-month target is for nearly 200% upside. So, do I approve of what Katie is buying on this downtrend?

26. Well, again, for Katy's high-risk and innovative style, I think this fits just as well as many of her other promotions. As for me personally, I have a very small speculative position , simply for the sake of the future of small modular reactors and nuclear energy in general. But, again, I supplement this with much larger and safer energy positions in my portfolio that carry much more weight.

27. These are much larger positions and much better, more profitable, safer, obviously more profitable companies. This same investment is only a tiny fraction compared to them. But it's something I still like in the very long term. I kind of want to bet on that. And I think it has great prospects, and also, again, serious support.

28. And , you know, without getting off topic and getting into a long conversation, just the ability to put these small reactors close to the data centers where they're really needed, combined with the smaller scale, the speed of deployment, and their regenerative capabilitiesโ€”all of these things, I think, are going to be game-changers in energy and how they're used for AI in the future.

29. So that's what I like about it. But, again, the key word here is future. Not today, not in the near future, but in the long term. Okay, but that brings us to the third purchase. And this was the largest of its three acquisitions, where we have a specialist in cloud technologies for AI, the company CoreWeave , ticker CRWV.

30. Which Katie has been actively buying up lately, spending nearly $46 million through her funds to purchase over 825,000 shares in the past month alone. So, if you've been following the news headlines lately, you know that CoreWeave has been at the epicenter of the recent panic and sell-off in tech stocks, losing nearly 40% of its value in the last month alone and a staggering over half of its total value since its peak.

31. Which is in stark contrast to the successful performance they demonstrated shortly after their IPO last year. Well, once again we have a massive sell-off in AI that actually has little to do with customer demand and is almost entirely driven by the state of their balance sheets and the debt market. You see, unlike traditional hyperscalers who have huge advertising or software revenue to fund their data centers, CoreWeave is a dedicated neo-cloud operator.

32. This means they build high-performance data centers equipped with Nvidia GPUs, and then rent out this specialized computing power to various AI labs and enterprises. Well, to quickly ramp up that capacity, which is extremely important, by the way, because you really want to benefit as quickly as possible from the crazy demand that we're seeing right now.

33. So, to achieve this, as a result, they had to take out large loans, which led to the accumulation of a total debt of approximately $50 billion. And recently, the yield on CoreWeave bonds in the secondary market skyrocketed to 15-16%. If you look at it in perspective, when secondary market yields reach these levels, Wall Street starts classifying this debt as, you know, " distressed." This means that bond traders are starting to worry that CoreWeave won't be able to handle its debt service costs .

34. For example, last quarter, net interest expense rose to $640 million, eating up about a quarter of their total revenue. And shortly after, Bernstein analysts downgraded the stock to โ€œunderperform, โ€ warning that CoreWeave could need about $85 billion in capital just to fund its entire construction. So, when you combine the insane amount of money needed just to operate a business with the high interest costs of all that borrowingโ€”which in our current high-interest rate environment looks even worseโ€”add to that the fear of a future dilution of capital.

35. And the result was that the market simply sold off stocks in a panic , to, perhaps, " wash its hands" and get rid of all this mess, if you want to call it that . But here is the other side of this coin, and it is quite significant. The reason Katie Wood is buying stocks so aggressively during the downturn is that while Wall Street is panicking over debt, underlying demand for the Coreweave computing platform is skyrocketing.

36. Last quarter, for example, revenue grew 112% year-over-year , reaching $2.6 billion. While adjusted EBITDA increased to $1.5 billion with a margin of 59%. In fact, these operations could technically be very high-margin for them if it weren't for the insane capital expenditures required at the initial stage to build all the infrastructure.

37. According to Seeking Alpha, Coreweave shares should technically be trading about 30% below the sector median, and even 80% below it on operating cash flow. But again, the reason is that sales volumes and operating cash flow do not take into account gigantic capital expenditures. So, even if we wanted to value these stocks based on net income or free cash flow, which would be much more accurate or relevant in this case to really understand their real value, we wouldn't even be able to do that because they're losing billions of dollars every year.

38. But again , it shows that if it weren't for this massive capital expenditure, all those huge upfront costs, this would actually be a very high-margin business, trading at a likely huge discount after this massive crash, which I guess is Katie's optimistic view of it. This is probably her main argument in favor of this.

39. And, by the way, this is not such a crazy argument. Especially considering the huge demand and the order book, which grew by another 246%, reaching an incredible $104 billion, and management noted that this does not even include the additional $25 billion in new customer commitments signed at the beginning of the third quarter.

40. So the long-term goal here, I guess, is to fully build, run, and operate these data centers, and eventually get to a point where you can start to reduce all of these costs and just keep these massive data centers running with new equipment and upgrades as needed. By the way, these shares even belong to Nvidia.

41. This is a major investor who is also a strategic partner. So, having that support and being able to get early access to Nvidia's best products gives them a certain advantage. And I think that also helps them stand out a little bit in what is becoming an increasingly crowded field . Time will tell who will ultimately be right about all this: the bulls, the bears, or, you know, whoever else.

42. But personally, I don't own these shares yet, at least not right now. It's simply because I already own so many AI data center stocks that I have huge exposure to things like Coreweave, as well as related markets. And for me, that's a bit too much. I already have well- diversified large-cap assets and I sleep soundly owning them, whereas owning Coreweave would probably cause me some stress, although I would n't say it's not worth a bet, and it certainly suits Katie Wood, who is looking for riskier names with a heavy tech component and tends to pick stocks that are falling in price in an attempt to find value.

43. I think it is also looking for opportunities for significant recovery in the long term. Again , I'm not defending her or her strategy or anything like that. I'm just saying that I think that's exactly what she's really looking for. And for her, I think such an asset really makes sense. But for me personally, it's not something that fits into my portfolio right now.

44. But, ultimately, for the record, out of 41 analysts covering this stock, they still see over 150% upside potential from current levels. So, you know, take it how you want. So, you heard it all, guys. These are three falling AI stocks that Katie Wood has been actively buying during this recent tech sector sell-off.

45. It is clear that ARK is making huge bets on the future of energy and computing infrastructure. But as you can see, while I hold my small speculative stake in Oklo, I'm personally skipping the other two for now , even though I find them to be very interesting options. What do you think about this? Do you buy these stocks when the price drops or stay away?
