Hello, this is Fund Variable. Today, I would like to talk about the US Philadelphia Semiconductor ETF. There is an ETF called "SO XX" that I have mentioned frequently because that "Smart Fund" also invests in it. It is the IC Semiconductor 2TV. Since it is said to be performing better than expected, I believe it was likely created by Mirae to provide the convenience of not losing sleep until the US market opens up.
It was launched in May of this year, so it is an ETF that is now just over six months old. The only thing that might bother you before investing is that the semiconductor sector itself is not just running past historical highs, but is currently at the very top of the mountain, which looks a bit daunting.
While some say that highs are constantly being broken, I think investors should keep in mind that the impact is always significant when a drop occurs from a high point. Let's compare the performance. First, this red line is Mirae's Philadelphia Semiconductor AT since its launch. It looks nice. There is also a fund released domestically; there is a fund called the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index.
However, the 2K F does not brighten up, so... In this regard, it is appropriate to compare it with this Bluebird, which is labeled as 'Uh-hyung.' So, if we compare them, we can see that the ETF is growing. I also compared it with 'So XX.' I looked it up on the forum, and yes, if I compare the last 6 months since the fund's launch, ' Yesu XX' yields about 29%, while the ETF generates a return of about 34%, exceeding it by about 5 percentage points.
Typically, when investing in US stocks, you have to consider additional costs such as trading fees and currency exchange fees between the two funds. However, even excluding those, high profits are generated based solely on the absolute amount of commission. Therefore, when considering the actual realized rate of return, one can conclude that Tiger Lee Tae-gu's performance is much better.
Secondly, regarding costs and redemption, the convenient discussion regarding Tepper has been somewhat summarized. As mentioned earlier, if you invest in the Philadelphia Semiconductor ETF Fund at Yuri Asset Management, the annual management fee (excluding commission) is 1.1%. This is the standard for the cheapest investment via the online class, but since it exceeds 1%, it is not insignificant.
However, if you go with the ETF... It is only about half the level compared to that. Perhaps that is why the fund's net assets have already exceeded 700 billion won, even though it has only been about six months. Funds also differ somewhat in terms of their cycles. If you redeem before 5 PM, it takes up to 7 or even 8 business days.
It takes about 7 to 8 days. As I showed you earlier, this is the fourth general difference between TFs and funds. Since ETFs are listed on the stock market, settlement is quick, but for funds, it can take up to 8 to 9 days. Please be sure to keep in mind that this long settlement period can be inconvenient.
It is inconvenient, isn't it? And what concerns me the most is the historical peak. What do you think? I examined it by breaking it down into 5-year intervals, starting from 2005 and going back to 2010. You can see a pattern of almost a 90-degree vertical rise. You need to be careful, as the fact that the peak is this high means that when it falls, the trough is just as deep.
If you look at times like the IT bubble, it was cut in half, or even one-third. That is because there have been instances where it was severely damaged. That is why I have occasionally mentioned in my first broadcast the " Ass X"—an inverse ETF designed to profit when prices fall. I invested in it just for fun, but as the market hits all-time highs, that inverse ETF is now racing toward an all-time low.
Therefore, regarding assets showing such massive gains, do not blindly trust the saying "ride the galloping horse." Since the higher the mountain, the greater the reward, I hope you always keep in mind first that you must manage your mental distance and risk exceptionally well before investing. Thank you.
