Now, let's be honest, this warning dates back to February and as I speak to you, no massive forced liquidation has yet materialized. So either Burry raised the alarm too early, or the system is just more resilient than he thought it would be at the moment. That's the whole point. A prediction from Burry is never a certainty.
This is a risk scenario that he believes is underestimated by the market. Third prediction, and this one goes far beyond crypto. Burry believes that Bitcoin was never really the digital-free thing we were led to believe it was . As proof, the correlation between Bitcoin and the NASDAQ has reached a record level this year, around 0.96.
This means that in more than 96% of cases, Bitcoin moves in the same direction as US tech stocks . While gold and silver metals have recently risen as safe-haven assets, Bitcoin has fallen along with tech stocks. For Burry, this is proof that crypto behaves like a risky speculative asset, not like insurance against inflation or economic uncertainty.
And this very prediction is part of a broader vision. Burry believes we are in an artificial intelligence bubble, which he describes as a catastrophically overbuilt infrastructure.
