01. Just because a guy has money doesn't mean he can go buy cattle and be successful in the cattle business . Most of us believe that the biggest limiting factor is money. He meant that guys who have accumulated wealth find a way to lose it. Warren Buffett is no fool. It's better to know where you're investing your money.

02. If you don't know what you're investing in, don't do it. Don't try to be someone you're not and suddenly become a midnight cowboy. This is a beautiful day that the Lord created. Thank you for joining . Today is a special day, and our topic today is: Would Warren Buffett buy cows? Probably not, because he has all the money in the world and he hasn't done it yet, as far as I know.

03. So why didn't he do it? If we're sitting here talking about business and saying it's a good investment, why doesn't a guy with big money invest in cattle? My grandfather. I recently interviewed him a few weeks ago, and, um, you should all watch that episode. He was very special to me. He is 93 years old, he spent his whole life in cattle breeding, owned nine different sailing stables .

04. And in that interview, he talked about how if a person has money, it doesn't mean they can go buy cattle and be successful in cattle breeding. And I find that strange because most of us who love ranching, and it's our passion, and it's what we want to do, we think the biggest limiting factor is money, right?

05. If we had more money, we could do it better. And he meant that guys who have accumulated wealth and have a lot of money, trying to get into it, find a way to lose it. And that got me thinking. He says, “If these guys come in and think all they need is their money, he said they don’t have it here because they haven’t thought about it, haven’t considered it, and have n’t lived it enough, or haven’t cared enough to live it enough .” No, because they've never had to do that.

06. He said: “ If the way you raise cattle matters, when you raise them, the sale, how you sell them, the form you put them in , the types of groups you put them in for sale, all of that matters. And if you're not aware of the livestock market, you're not aware of the livestock industry, or your livestock itself , you're never going to succeed as a business as you should." And Warren Buffett is no fool.

07. He doesn't invest in livestock because it's a bad investment. I would venture to say that he knows that you better know where you are putting your money. If you don't know what you're investing your money in, then don't do it. He knows the stocks. He knows the markets. And that's exactly what he does.

08. Don't try to be someone you're not and suddenly become a midnight cowboy, okay? This is a good way to lose some money. If he wants to spend some of it, let him. We're having a sale this weekend. I think you and I should be the same." If we're going to get into this business and want to be in it for the long term, we better consciously study this business, fully immerse ourselves in everything related to cattle farming: the cattle, the land, how to farm it, how to reach the break-even point so that we can make money and make the business profitable.

09. Because we don't want to be one of those stories where, well, it's a sinking ship. You invest your cattle, we invest money in cattle, and in the end we have no money and still have some cattle, right? This must be a working business. And it is absolutely possible. And that's what I think annoys me the most, when someone who wants to do this and is passionate about it is discouraged from doing it because of the culture and stigma that we've created around the business itself.

10. This is difficult. The drought is severe. There's no money in this. The costs are too high. Feed is expensive. Fertilizers are expensive. The price of land is high. You can't...Make it work. You can't make a living from farming. I'm here to say that you absolutely can, and it's absolutely hard. But that doesn't mean it's not worth it.

11. It is absolutely worth it. There are many things in this life that are difficult, and if you attack them, push through them, and get to the other side, almost all of these journeys are so beautiful and worth it. A woman giving birth, and those contractions are absolutely terrifying, aren't they? I'm thankful I'm a guy so I never have to go through that , but you get the most wonderful reward.

12. Marriage is hard, but oh my God, a lifelong marriage and all the fruits that come from it are so beautiful. So for me, don't be afraid of the difficult. And if you don't know it, admit that you don't know it, and dig deep and learn. Enroll in the Cattle Trainers Academy , read the book, take the course, watch the videos, do the things to educate yourself so you can be the best version of yourself and literally be years ahead of the game because you can just jump in and do it, right?

13. Just send it. But you will learn, but probably a little slower than if you studied on your own . Like me, I'm a cattleman, and that's what I know. And I've never really played with the stock market. And at some point I had some money and I thought, you know what, this is smart. You know, diversify. Let's invest some money in the stock market.

14. Well, for the next three years I was absolutely furious with this decision because all I did was watch my money fall lower and lower and then slowly climb back up again. And they barely got back to the break-even point I invested in three years ago. And I'm sitting here thinking: if it's cool to invest in the stock market, and in three years I won't even have the same amount that I invested, then why would I do it ?

15. In my head, I thought I'd better bet on myself . I figure I could buy cattle or trade them or invest in, uh... some cows and I could get more income with them than what this here has yielded. And that's because I knew cattle and felt comfortable there, not in the stock market. And I didn't have the ability to make the right decisions or have the right patience in the world that I know here, because every time you look at your cattle farm, if you were going to take the exact same look as you would at the stock market, you would have the same disappointments.

16. If I buy 20 pairs, yeah, uh, I bought at a high price because every time you buy pairs, it means they're overpriced. Good. Well, let's fast forward, say 6 months, and by then I've sold the Kevs and the cows are short-bred. Well, if I were to sell this pair of cows now, they would probably be worth less than I paid for them because they don't have a big calf on the side.

17. They are short-haired. They must be skinny because they just had their kevs taken off. And now I'm like, Well, I sold these cows, but even if you add that to their value, we're still about the same level and breaking even. And how can this deal even bring profit? But then you give her a little more time.

18. These cows become meatier as they calve harder, and they are further along in time for weaning. And now, judging by their weight, they are worth more. The market itself may change slightly either in your favor or against you. And that's why their cost does this. You sell cows, and you can go in a million different directions.

19. You may have losses due to death, or you may sell the cows at a good rate and all will be well. But if you have losses due to death , your value drops. You could have five of them get struck by lightning and your value drops. You may have no loss through death, and a few may have a pair of twins, and your value will increase significantly.

20. So if you take these snapshots of the value of your livestock, it fluctuates just as much as the stock market. Hello everyone, this is Colton and I'm here to cheer you on. If you want to raise champions like you see here, contact Cattle Coach. Academy. This is a course I created to not only help you build your business, but to make it so that you make money.

21. I want to see you thrive and make money in the cattle business , and this course will help you do that. So follow the link below. Now let's get back to the point. We are simply used to what is comfortable for us. And I'm comfortable with the fluctuations in the value of livestock because I know it comes back.

22. And I know this cow will be more valuable once she has a healthy calf. And I know that every time I go to sell this Kev, I get cash flow that same day. And with the stock market, I'm just sitting here waiting, not knowing when to take the money, when to leave it, when to pay it off, whether I'm doing the right thing.

23. I question everything in this world because I don't really know it. There was a point in my life where I didn't really know the livestock market, and, you know, you're still learning all the time, but I'm...more comfortable with it. So I feel calmer. So, I would say if you are new to the cattle business and you are uncomfortable and you are not making the money you thought you would or your cattle are not as valuable as they were the day you bought them and you are worried for those reasons, it is a natural part of the growth curve.

24. Just stay on the hook, because the longer you stay on the hook, the more you consciously invest your time and knowledge, learn and grow. Likewise, if I were to stay on the hook for the stock market and continue to grow there and fuel it, disaster could happen, right? You can get your livestock sick and everything will fall apart.

25. The stock market could collapse. Everything is out of your control, and none of it is fun. But if you let go of the averages and just decide that this is the game you want to be in and put all your energy into it, I promise you that you will get better. You will learn, and you will have opportunities that you would not have seen if you were not in it all the time.

26. But because you are constantly at it, you can see this opportunity and get a bigger win than you ever could. And it's fun. It's a game, but when so much is at stake because of the cost, you better be good at the game. That's why I believe Warren Buffett knows the game of money, he knows the game of the stock market.

27. And such a person who achieves success, why does she start a completely different game and try to be someone else than she is, with something she doesn't really know or doesn't want to know? So, if you are someone who wants to succeed in this business, I will tell you this. You only know what you have read or what you have seen.

28. If you don't know anyone who works in this business, if you haven't experienced it and seen it with your own eyes, I strongly advise you to learn in any way you can, be it training, courses, work experience. Find a place where you can read about what you want to know, you can see what you want to know.

29. about. Because if you just take the knowledge you have and assume it will get you where you want to go, I would say that's probably a slippery slope, and we don't really want to attack our path to success that way. Now, if this is just your hobby and you can tolerate losing money, do it however you want.

30. But if you want it to be a little bit like a business and grow like a business can grow, then you need to be conscious about the steps you take, the plans you make, and how you execute them. I want to thank you all for being with us and tuning in today to review the previous episodes you've watched, some of the golden moments that are in these conversations, plus this one today, and the ones that will be coming out next week and in the future.

31. Like, share, comment, subscribe, do everything. I appreciate you, and I'll see you next week.
