01. Good day everyone, this is Jack from the Stock Serpent Watchdog. Today I want to bring you my new process video, which runs through all of my entry rules. I created it in the form of a checklist so that you can go through it step by step and see whether a stock is indeed a good buying opportunity. On screen, I'm using Tesla as my test case. I'll run through my checklist to see whether Tesla is a good buy here, or where it broke out, and then make a determination: an all clear or danger ahead. Those are my rankings, my recommendations at the end of each video, to make sure a stock is actually investable at that point.

02. My goal is to prevent small investors from suffering unnecessary drawdowns and unnecessary fluctuations in their brokerage accounts. I know that can be detrimental to your emotional well-being, and it's my goal to try to prevent that. Okay, here we go.

03. We start with the Kumo cloud. The first item on my checklist is whether price is trading above the Kumo cloud. Here is the cloud, and here is my price. This is where price broke out through it, so that is a bullish indicator. The first item on my checklist is a go: I am trading above the Kumo cloud.

04. The second item is whether price is trading higher than the Kumo shadow, the resistance areas from the past. The Kumo shadow is the cloud that trails behind price. These are usually strong resistance or support areas, depending on whether you're going long or short. In Tesla, the Kumo shadow is this area here. On the six-month chart there's no other Kumo shadow, but if you look carefully, you'll see price having a little difficulty getting through this shadow resistance area. That makes it significant, because this system is excellent at finding the resistance and support levels you need. So on the second point, price is trading right at the edge of the Kumo shadow. For me that's neutral, neither bullish nor bearish, because we're trading right at it.

05. The third item is the Tenkan-sen, the blue line, a nine-period fast-moving average, and the Kijun-sen, the red line, a 26-period intermediate moving average. These are midpoints, not based on closing prices but on the highest high and lowest low averaged over their periods. What am I looking for? I want the Tenkan-sen above the Kijun-sen, which is a bullish sign. Right now the Tenkan-sen is trading significantly above the Kijun-sen. If you look down here, the Kijun-sen is at 302 dollars and the Tenkan-sen is at 343. That's about 40 dollars, a big gap by anyone's measure, and a clear bullish sign.

06. The fourth item asks where price is trading relative to the Kijun-sen. Price should be trading roughly at or near the Kijun-sen to indicate an orderly trend rather than a volatile move. Here you can clearly see the move was not orderly. It was very rapid and very disorderly. That's why this item is bearish: price is too far extended above the midpoint moving average. When price gets extended above the Tenkan-sen and Kijun-sen, it tends to be drawn back toward those midpoint averages. Here, it's the Kijun-sen that price will likely be drawn back to. The Kijun-sen is continuing to rise very slightly, and the Tenkan-sen has turned almost flat. So this is a bearish indicator, and it can possibly lead to consolidation.

07. The fifth item asks whether the Tenkan-sen and Kijun-sen are above the Kumo cloud. Here it's half and half. The Tenkan-sen is above the cloud, but the Kijun-sen is inside it. I have to call this bearish, because the 26-period midpoint average carries more weight than the fast-moving average. With the 26-period average inside the cloud, the reading is indefinitely a little more bearish than bullish.

08. The sixth item asks whether the Tenkan-sen is pointing up. It isn't. It has turned flat. It was rising very strongly, then it just went flat, so it will be interesting to see what happens next. This is clearly consolidation. It isn't pointing down, it's pointing sideways, and that is neutral for Tesla at the moment. The Kijun-sen, by contrast, is pointing up, ever so slightly. So I have to call that bullish, even though it's trading inside the cloud, which is a different part of the checklist.

09. The seventh item is the Chikou Span. I go back 26 periods and plot today's closing price 26 days back on the daily chart. If the Chikou Span is trading above price, that's bullish. Here the Chikou Span is significantly above price, so that's a bullish item.

10. The eighth item is whether the Chikou Span is above the cloud. It is. The Chikou Span is trading above the cloud, so that's another bullish check. Tesla seems to be shaping up to continue its bullish ways.

11. The ninth and tenth items look at the future of the Chikou Span. This is my favorite momentum indicator, if you haven't caught that in previous videos. It's part of the Ichimoku Kinko Hyo technical trading system, and it tells you when big moves are brewing in a stock or market. For the future, we have to look both horizontally and vertically at where the Chikou Span can interact with the cloud or with price.

12. Horizontally, imagine price goes sideways from here. The Chikou Span will take roughly half a month, around 15 to 16 trading days, before it interacts with price. In about two to three trading weeks it will interact with price, and once it does, it will consolidate. If price stays at this level and fluctuates here, the Chikou Span will interact with price and further consolidation will happen.

13. Vertically, we are in open space. There is nothing above this level. If you look up here, there's just blue sky. There is a very real potential for Tesla to start trending here. If it continues to break out, it will have a very strong potential to trend fast and furiously to the upside. Since there are no price points for the Chikou Span to interact with, it won't consolidate. It will just keep moving up. That is very bullish.

14. To summarize the checklist: on the first item, price is above the Kumo, which is bullish. On the second, price is at the Kumo shadow, which is neutral. On the third, the Tenkan-sen is above the Kijun-sen, which is bullish. On the fourth, price is not near the Kijun-sen, which is a definite bearish call. So far that's three bullish and one bearish. On the fifth, the Tenkan-sen and Kijun-sen are not both above the cloud, which is also bearish. Now it's three bullish and two bearish. On the sixth, the Tenkan-sen is moving sideways, which is neutral. On the seventh, the Chikou Span is above price, bullish. On the eighth, it's above the cloud, bullish. On the ninth, the Kijun-sen is pointing up, bullish. On the tenth, the Chikou Span is in open space, bullish.

15. Wait, let me correct myself on the second point. I first called it bearish and then neutral. It's neutral. So in total, I have two neutral checks, two bearish checks, and six bullish checks. Six bullish out of ten is greater than 50%. If you weigh these by importance, it definitely shifts the odds toward this being a bullish chart to the upside.

16. Now I want to quickly jump to a weekly chart. Here is Tesla's weekly chart, and let's go back to that second point, price trading against the Kumo shadow. The Kumo shadow generally acts as price resistance in a bullish move. Look here: this is the edge of my Kumo shadow, and look exactly where price is trading right now. Price is trading at the edge of the Kumo shadow, which means Tesla is trading at price resistance. That makes the second point not neutral but a bearish check, because the weekly chart carries slightly more weight than the daily. On a weekly, I can't call this neutral. It's bumping up against firm resistance. You can also see there hasn't been a weekly close above that level. This weekly candle has not been able to close above the Kumo shadow, and that is a big negative and therefore a bearish check on my checklist.

17. That's the process I follow. I hope it's clear. I'll try to add the checklist to the description so you can take a quick look. I know it may seem confusing if you're new to the Ichimoku Kinko Hyo technical trading system. It's a lot to digest, so I suggest doing some reading, because I'm not going to go into much more detail here. There's a lot of information online, including on YouTube, if you search for it. My goal today was simply to show you how the system works with price and with individual stocks and markets.

18. Thank you very much for watching. If you'd like to see more videos like this, please press the subscribe button and hit the notification bell so you get all my new videos.
