Can you imagine that by investing just ₹000, a portfolio worth thousands of crores of rupees can be created in the equity market? Yes, it is possible. And this has been done by late Shri Rakesh Jhunjhunwala ji. So today we will talk about Rakesh Jhunjhunwala ji. About some of his learnings from which we can learn and make our life rich and prosperous.
So first of all let us know who Rakesh Jhunwala ji was and how he contributed to the stock market. So Rakeshwala ji started his career in 1985 and as it is said that he started his investment with just ₹5000. He learned the market. He understood the market. Rakeshwala ji completed his graduation as a Chartered Accountant.
After that, he entered the stock market in 1985 and then by investing just ₹000, he made his portfolio worth thousands of crores. His story is not just about earning money but his story is about believing in the growth of India and believing in oneself. His story is how even a small investor can become a big business tycoon.
So let's talk about some of his learnings from which we can learn. So his first learning was that if you want to enter any business then you should have passion for that business. Meaning that if you want to go into the stock market then you should have a passion for the stock market. You should enjoy the stock market.
You should not enter any profession just to earn money. First of all, identify your passion. If you enjoy the stock market, enjoy buying shares, then only you should invest in the stock market. Otherwise, you will never be able to do the stock market wholeheartedly and you will never be interested in fundamental analysis.
And unless you are interested in fundamental analysis, you will not know when to buy a share, when to sell it , and how to extract maximum value from that share. And then if you are not able to do that, you will incur losses in the stock market. So first of all identify your passion and if you are really interested in the stock market then only you should invest in the stock market.
So his second learning is that when should we buy which stock? So what does Rakesh Jhanwala say? He says that first of all, instead of looking at the company, look at its business model. See how much future growth is possible in that business model. For example, Rakesh Jhanwale ji has a share called Titan.
So he noticed that when he bought Titan, the branded jewellery that people bought at that time was mostly bought from the local market. This means that they did not buy branded jewellery but bought it from the jewellers in the local market and the market share of branded jewellery was only 5%. Meaning, 5% people used to buy only branded jewellery and the remaining 95% people used to buy local jewellery.
But Rakesh Jhunjhal ji understood that as India grows, people will move from local jewellery to branded jewellery and he had estimated that instead of just 5%, up to 20% people can move to branded jewellery and this also happened and as people moved to branded jewellery, the value of Titan kept increasing and today around 35% people invest in gold through branded jewellery.
And the 65% people who are there still prefer to buy jewellery from local jewellers only. And the forecast that is still ahead is that by something around 2029, 45% of people will move towards branded jewellery. So this is how he saw the potential in a stock and invested in the shares. His third learning is when should we sell the shares?
So we have bought the shares but we will get profit only when we sell them. So when do we have to sell the shares? So what Rakesh Jholwala ji believes is that when we get some other better opportunity or we need money and or we feel that the EPS i.e. Earning per Share of the share that we have has reached its peak and this share cannot earn more than this or its P ratio is very unstable i.e.
it has reached 80 100 200, then at that time he feels that he should exit from the share and that too after he does its fundamental analysis to see if there are chances of further growth in this share if he feels that now this share has reached its high. Its shares will not increase on EPS earnings.
If the PE has become very high then they exit this stock. And the fourth learning of Rakesh Jhanjwala ji is that trading is poison. Yes, the trading means that you do intraday trading or future option trading is a poison and we should avoid it. Although Rakeshwala ji himself used to do trading, he once said that my father smokes cigarettes but he forbids me from doing so.
So in the same way you should also not do trading because the trading pattern of Rakesh Jhunjhunwala ji, his method, he used to trade in a very disciplined manner and used to trade with a lot of fundamentals and such discipline can only be found in robots or in Rakeshlaji, so that is why he suggested that it is better that you stay away from trading, that is the best and if you want to do trading then do it only with your own money and not with borrowed money from anyone.
Don't do it with your father's money. Do n't do it with relatives' money. And trade only with the money you have in your pocket. Otherwise, don't do it. And his fifth learning is what I consider to be his best learning. He said that you should invest most of your money on your health. Because his worst investment was on health.
He never paid much attention to his health and this was the reason that he died at the age of only 65 years. So that is why he said this while leaving that I did not pay attention to my help but you please pay attention to your help. Invest your help. Do daily exercise, workout and only then concentrate on your business and trading.
So these were some learnings from Rakeshwala ji from which we can learn and make ourselves a good investor. We can make a good person and we can make our trading journey, our investment journey, rich. So I will keep bringing such videos for you. Subscribe to our channel, like and share with your friends.
