His father's name is Radheshyam Jhunjhunwala who was an Income Tax Officer and his mother's name is Urmila Jhunjhunwala who was a grandmother. Actually, he originally hails from Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan. That is why he adds the surname Jhunjhunwala before his name. His family is a Marwari Agarwal.
How did Rakesh Jhunjhunwala enter the stock market? Rakesh Jhunjhunwala started getting business acumen from his father and family since childhood. His father was an officer in the Income Tax Department. His father used to explain how news and information affect the stock market. Rakesh Jhunjhunwala first tried his hand in the stock market in the year 1985.
At that time he was studying at Sydenham College. After this, when he took custody of Chartered Accountancy, he started investing in the share market and explaining its intricacies. He invested money in this company and earned up to three times the amount. He had bought 5000 shares of Tata T at ₹43 and by selling them in the year 1986, he had made a profit of up to ₹5 lakh.
