How can I avoid losses? And every investor needs to consider this very carefully. Well, I believe that we are in a situation where investment properties could fall quite sharply, and we have already experienced a dramatic drop, especially in the real estate market, commercial properties, i.e., office buildings and so on.
In America, business properties have fallen in value by as much as 70%, and the same is true in Hong Kong. Therefore, I would say it is a risk for the investor not to hold any gold at all, because I think that central banks will be forced to print money due to other circumstances, including the possibility that the United States will attack Iran, and that could trigger a third world war.
When 50 years of stock market experience from one of the greatest stock market legends, Dr. If Mark Faber is to be pronounced, then we should all listen very carefully, because he not only predicted numerous crashes, but also saw the opportunities where one could make a lot of money overnight . However, as a stock market guru, he is now sounding the alarm, and with his Doom Clom Boom Report, hedge funds, large banks, and politicians worldwide are reading his words.
He said we are in a global investment crisis that hardly anyone sees. In his opinion, only a handful of stocks drove the markets upwards, and commercial real estate will not only fall by 70%. His strategy for avoiding losses, which is more important than making profits, will save us all now. Good day to all listeners and viewers.
My view back in November/December was already that we were in an investment bubble worldwide, after the markets had risen so sharply last year. And my view was that the American stock market was very hurt because it was driven by the so-called Magnificent Seven stocks, which drove the stock market and the indices upwards because these companies became so heavily weighted in the stock market.
And that is always a bad sign on the stock markets, when the large and broad market does not move, but only a handful of stocks push the indices upwards. And that's why I don't actually believe that the stock markets are falling, although it is astonishing that they have fallen by 30% in some cases within a month .
So that's pretty extreme, and recovery can only take place very briefly. However, the question is this, and every investor must consider it very carefully. We have different types of inflation. We have consumer price inflation. So, when they go shopping and meat prices rise or food prices rise, those are consumer prices, or their insurance premiums rise; those are also expenses, services that the consumer has to spend.
Well, there is one type of inflation that central banks are not interested in, and that is asset inflation. But asset inflation is also a form of inflation; it is a symptom of inflation. Inflation can be described as an increase in the money supply, a widening of the money supply in the system compared to the existing means of production.
And this asset inflation primarily affects stocks and bonds, real estate and collectibles such as stamps, paintings and so on, and recently also cryptocurrencies and precious metals. In the last 40 years since 1980/82, the world has actually been characterized by disinflation, which then caused interest rates to tend downwards.
And this trend was then accelerated by central banks that printed money and kept interest rates low until 2020, 2022, but since then interest rates have tended to rise and, as you know, consumer price inflation has accelerated, and when consumer price inflation accelerates and interest rates rise, these are long cycles that last 30, 40 to 60 years.
When interest rates rise and inflation accelerates, this is usually not very good for investment inflation, because stocks are valued differently when the interest rate increases. Well, I believe we are in a situation where investment properties could fall quite sharply. And we have already experienced dramatic declines, especially in the real estate market, commercial real estate, i.e.
office buildings and so on. In America, commercial buildings have fallen in value by as much as 70%, and the same is true in Hong Kong. So, as an investor, you have to think about it. One strategy is for the investor to basically think about how to make the most money in an OSE, in stocks, real estate, collectibles, cryptocurrencies, and so on.
Perhaps the investor should consider how to avoid losses? And that's also an important strategy, so that you don't lose too much of the money you have. Of course, every man who has an investment portfolio will lose some money, because in an investment portfolio they have stocks, bonds, and commodities, and there is always some that falls , but we are concerned with how to lose the least, and it is important to understand that certain investment vehicles are naturally more defensive than others.
So, I assume that after 60% of the world's stock market capitalization was in America in December, this share will decrease and the share of other stock markets in the world capitalization will increase. So the money would flow from America to other regions and countries. Japan was once the largest country in terms of stock market capitalization in 1989.
It was 50% of the world, and today it is less than 10%. The money then flowed out of Japan into other areas, especially back in the 90s into the American Nastagak, into technology stocks, and above all into DC Babo, but these shifts happen from time to time, and I think everyone has their own thoughts on the matter.
I think that America is vulnerable, and so is the American dollar, and that the world still is, even though the price of gold has risen, I must admit. And, statistically speaking, the price of gold is not particularly cheap. But if I compare the price of gold, or compare gold's value to all financial assets in the world, then the proportion of gold held by investors is, of course, very small.
They go to a party and then people say, yes, we have gold of course, they always have everything that increases in value. But they might only have one or two unses. There are few people you meet who have invested, say, 20-30% of their money in golf or other precious metals. I would say that it is a risk for the investor not to hold any gold at all, because I think that central banks will be forced to print money.
Well, printing money in today's situation might not be very helpful, because printing money could of course accelerate inflation, and that would cause long-term interest rates to continue rising and put downward pressure on financial values. I assume that financial values have fallen recently , less because of Trump's tariff war and the trade war and so on, but because of other circumstances including the possibility that the United States will attack Iran and that could trigger a third world war.
So, the catalyst for the recent stock market crash was certainly the tariffs around it , but the real reason was that the American stock market was incredibly overvalued in December, January, and February of this year, and now a downward adjustment is taking place. That was my explanation. So you see, asset inflation doesn't interest central banks , but it destroys investors and private individuals.
America holds 60% of the world's stock market capitalization, and this share will decrease. This is Mark Farber's prediction. Money is flowing out of America like it once did out of Japan, and his statement and fear is that it is a risk for investors not to own any gold at all . That's precisely why central banks are buying more gold than ever before.
And that's exactly what drives the price of gold. So get on the train before it 's possibly too late for you.
