01. Hi friends, welcome back to this channel, Fun Site. Today we are going to talk about a very good fund manager, Peter Lynch. He has a book called One Up on Wall Street. I wanted that all my friends or people who invest should get full benefit. Whatever I have been able to extract from this book or whatever I have gathered, I wanted to just share my efforts with you people so that you can make a better decision and easily understand how investments are made in the stock market.

02. So the first and best thing is that we are going to make a series in this. There will be many videos in it. We will not make a very long video in any series. The basic purpose is that rather than discuss a lot of charts etc., we will mainly focus on the things that happen philosophically and would like to tell you that whenever you invest, you can see all these things.

03. There will be some constraints in this. I wo n't go into too much numerical data and will talk about concepts because according to me, I believe that if you are solid on your fundamentals and your philosophy, then you can make a good amount of money. So guys, let's start today's video. The first thing that is important in investing is that you should understand what I believe we say.

04. Yes, I am actually making these notes in my copy, so I will tell you what is the most important thing in this. I have made some notes. So, you will find this same heading called Preparing to Invest in this book and what is Peter Lynch saying in it before buying stocks? What should you do before buying any stock?

05. Okay, so basically, let me show you the cover of the book. This is the cover of the book. Actually, this is the cover of the book written by one of the most celebrated fund managers on Wall Street. Of United States of America You can go and see a little biography of him behind and you can also watch his videos.

06. So this is a wonderful book and we are trying to decode it for all the users so that it is beneficial. Okay, so let's start now. I will open a page inside this book, page number 47 Part One Preparing to Invest. Okay, so I told you a little summary of this, so I have written about what he said. Here I am telling you that the first thing he did is make some basic decision making before investing.

07. You will have to do some basic decision making. You are seeing what all comes in it. See how much you know about the corporate America. So you understand that if you invest in the Indian domestic market, then how much do you know about the corporate India? How does the Indian corporate work? How much do you have an idea about it?

08. You have to know this. Second is how much do you know about the market? Our market is the Indian market, where how much do you know about our stock exchange? Okay. How much do you know about its structure, how does it work, the buy and sell transaction effects or the settlement time, like the plus two settlement time in India, how much do you know about it, okay, do you have knowledge about all these things or not, okay, it can also be because of the expenses and losses, if you are not aware of those two things, first of all you have to know what is the expectation from the market, see, wherever we invest, we put our money, we have some expectation, so we have to know what is our expectation, okay, like suppose I have 00 today, I have invested in the market, today I have bought a share worth 00, then what can be my expectation, I want to get a return of 2000 on it in the next 10 days, if its value goes up to 12000, I will sell it, then You have an expectation from the market whenever you buy something, like when you buy a house property, you buy a house to live in, then you have some expectations from it too, that my house should be like this, its interior should be like this, okay, tables should be like this, chairs should be like this or how big will my TV cabinet be, what will be the size of the kitchen, so there are some expectations because it will give you some satisfaction, but at the same time, if you consider the property as a real estate investment, then you will see how much the value of the property will increase when you sell it, then you have some expectations, like I bought a property worth ₹ lakh, I am thinking that when its value becomes 15 lakh after a year, then I will sell it, then my expectation is to earn a return of ₹ 5 lakh, okay, so basically after knowing these two things, let us see its next point, we have talked about our expected return, after that we have to decide whether you are a short term investor or a long term investor, if you see my For this, we have to decide two things: first, what is my investment objective and my attitude.

09. We will have to work on these two things. Okay, if my objective is to realize some kind of big profit in two, three, four years, then I can call myself a long-term investor. If my objective is monthly, weekly, or even yearly, if I say that I want to realize some amount, then I will call myself a short-term investor.

10. So, understand that the goals of a long-term investor will be different, the goals of a short-term investor will be different. Similarly, an investment philosophy becomes a part of whether you are a long-term investor or a short-term investor. So, in which category do you fall yourself? I am saying that you can assume short or long.

11. It does not happen like this, your objective will decide you. Okay, for example, today I am 40 years old, I am 30 years old, and I want to be 60 years old. When I get retired, I have a good amount of money. I have a good amount of money. Income, regular income, passive income from investments like dividends and all so that I can pay the fees of my kids and everyone and other household expenses I can beat.

12. So for that, I have a long-term objective. Okay, my attitude towards this price will also be the same. Whatever the price movement, I have to look at it in the same way. See, understand. One thing to note is that the investor 's fate is decided by the investor himself. Understand, the investor's fate is decided by the investor himself.

13. Neither you nor I invest. Neither the company in which you are investing, nor the market decides. So, the investor decides for himself because a better investor is the one who researches something well, understands it and invests in it after doing his analysis in a way. Exactly, he is a better investor and he is the one who decides his fate.

14. Or you will be like a chronic investor. People would tell you that if you are investing anywhere or doing anything, then you have to do research on your own, so you will have to look at this thing, so I told you this, so one more last thing which is that you should also understand how you will react to a price drop, see the price in the market moves in seconds, so if today what happens many times, for example, if you see the average 10 year return of NSC index, you will see that it is between 10 to 12, so if there is a price drop for you, today you bought shares for 0 and tomorrow it is more, then there will be a price drop in it basically and it may be ₹ 1 year later also, so what can be your objective, my long term objective is to hold for a year, so I should not bother with the pricing as long as I should check my fundamentals, the company is performing well, everything is doing well, well and good The company is on a good track, making consistent profits and maintaining consistent growth, then I should not be worried because there are some reasons for the price to go up and down, these are external factors, you should understand that if there is a war, then the price will drop due to it, understand this because when a war happens anywhere, its effect is felt in all the countries, today there is some problem in the Middle East, so the impact of oil prices is seen in our India as well, then suppose in that case, if you see that suppose the price drops and you sell that share, which you can say is an oil and natural gas related company, okay, one year, whereas your purpose of holding it was for one year, but its price dropped significantly at 50%, but the rate was also very big, what happened in the Middle East and oil is imported and exported from there, by the way, I am talking about it because usually the price gets increased, okay In such cases, because scarcity of resources would be happening and its price would increase, we assume the opposite.

15. So, that's fine. Or take an example where the price drops. You do n't have to worry about the price drop. Or let's assume what happened was that the stock sold after a year and it reached 50p or 200p. Okay, so what would happen? My target was for 200p a year, I sold it for 200p and realized a profit of only 00p.

16. Whereas after 5 years, that stock could have been worth 00p. So, I incurred an opportunity loss of 00p. Okay, why did I lose that? Because I got scared by the market movement. So, this is what you have to avoid. If your objective is for a long term investment, then you have to avoid this. How you react to a price drop matters a lot.

17. Similarly, for an investment, Peter Lane has shared three or four points, which I discussed with you. I have told you how we should be considerate about these points, so with that, thank you very much for watching my video. If you want to see more videos like this and you liked this video, then definitely share, like and subscribe and follow me like this and do n't forget to like and subscribe to the site.
