hey investor friends I'm Michelle Mary and today I'm going to talk about the latest Equity Holdings of some of my favorite super investors like Warren Buffett and the late Charlie mongers Daily Journal company and also what guy spear monish prri Lee Lou Michael bur and Greg Alexander have been invested in as of the first quarter of 2024 so that's for the period between January to March 2024 and these 13f Equity Holdings came out in miday this year so even though I'm a little bit late on talking about my thoughts of what has changed in some of these portfolios I think that there's still some educational value and if you enjoy learning from my YouTube videos I hope you'll like And subscribe to this video and YouTube channel because I'm trying to learn from some of the best investors and I hope some of my takeaways might also help you in your Learning Journey as an investor so with that I'm going to look at what the Berkshire Hathaway portfolio contains led by one of my favorite investors Warren Buffett and it was a surprise to me to see that Berkshire Hathaway sold about 133% of their apple holding and they've come down in a lot of their Holdings from a couple of quarters ago I remember when Berkshire had about 48 stocks in its portfolio and now they only have 41 stock stock so that's a bit of a change that they're getting more concentrated and yet their portfolio is still worth about $332 billion as of the end of March 2024 so even though they've sold off some Holdings they're still doing pretty well in their Equity portfolio and some of the things that I observed in this Burkshire portfolio include how they've added to their accidental petroleum holding but also sold off some Chevron but not by much in either so they're still holding on to a lot of those and then they've added a significant amount to their chub holding which makes it their number ninth holding nowadays and they've also added significantly to both Liberty series series a and Liberty serus series C which is kind of a mouthful I guess it's sort of hard to say serious series that's kind of a lot that kind of funny to say and then they've reduced their Holdings in Louisiana Pacific Corp and also the Sirius XM Holdings so that's a bit interesting because there's a couple of serious Liberty ones that they've been adding to and then like I mentioned the significant reduction in apple that I'll get into in a little bit and they reduced significantly their Paramount Global which I'll alsoa explain and they sold off entirely of their HP Computer stock so with the apple and also the Paramount Global I learned from the Burkshire hathway annual meeting that you can feel free to watch my key takeaways video on that Buffett said that he was entirely at fault for buying Paramount and also selling off the Paramount Stak so good or bad maybe Berkshire lost a little bit on the Paramount holding who knows but it wasn't such a big deal in the grand scheme of things like I estimated that they were maybe invested about a billion dollars or so in that holding so it wasn't too bad but the Apple holding I estimated that they probably sold off about $22 billion Worth or so and supposedly Buffett said it might have been as a result of getting some tax gains and wanting to be taxed at a lower rate so who knows if that's really the motivator but I find that an odd sort of decision to make and yet a little bit later on during the Apple earnings they came out with $110 billion stock buyback so why does Burkshire want to sell off some apple and yet Apple itself wants to buy back its shares who is more correct about the value of Apple is it Buffett or is it Tim Cook so that's definitely something that I'm a little bit wondering who made the right decision was it better for Berkshire to sell off some of that and then add to their big cash pile and their cash equivalents like in US treasury bonds which Buffett said by the end of June 2024 should swell to around $200 billion so that's about 23% of the market value of Burkshire at the time I'm recording this Berkshire is trading around 885 billion doll overall and their Equity portfolio is worth about 38% so that leaves about 40% of the actual value of the rest of the businesses in birkshire that people are paying for when they were to buy a Burkshire share nowadays and that's interesting so For Better or Worse that's where berkshire's at right now I don't know if they made the right call on reducing some of their apple holding I kind of wonder if you're trying to take some gains off the table at a favorable tax rate why not do that with some American Express or cocacola stock why do it with arguably the best stock in the world AKA Apple unless you think Microsoft or even Burkshire is a better stock than Apple it's a bit questionable but I think Buffett reassured investors that they would still continue to hold a lot of Apple shares so let's see I don't know why they would have reduced it but let's see who will be more right in the end is it going to be Burkshire and they'll reallocate those funds to something else or is it going to be Tim Cook and apple that are currently buying back a lot of shares I'm guessing because apple is back to close to its all-time high pretty much there if it's not already exceeded that and then for Charlie munger's Daily Journal we can see that the current CEO Steven Mill Jones may have been responsible for some of the reductions here because across the board there were significant reductions in their Bank stocks and also in their Alibaba holding they're still owning all of them but their portfolio is significantly reduced and I don't think that's what Charlie would have wanted so that's a bit too bad in my opinion and then moving on to monish P's PAB Investments we can see from their American portfolio Holdings that they only added a little bit but they also reduced a lot in some of their other Holdings so that's a bit interesting and I haven't been keeping much tabs on some of their International Holdings in the P Bri fund but something that I wasn't sure if it was a scam or not and maybe it's legit I still haven't done any real research into this but it would be monish pise wagons fund which apparently people can invest in so look into this wagons fund if you've always been trying to emulate whatever monish P has been invested in I haven't tried to copy a lot of monish P Investments I think that it would be worthwhile though to study what are some of the Holdings in this wagons fund and does it reflect what monish PAB owns in his normal PAB investment so so definitely do your homework before you invest in anything this is not advice I'm not trying to promote if this wagon fund is a good investment place or not it's just something that might pique your interest if you're curious about learning about how monish P invest so definitely look into that for learning purposes and then with guy spear we can see that he reduced about 25% of his Ferrari Holdings and that's basically all that guy spear seems to have been up to everything else is pretty static with Leu we can see that nothing also is much going on in the American portfolio and so I'm not going to really dwell there for long and then moving on to Michael bur scian Asset Management I think that the interesting thing here is less about all the different stocks he's been adding to even though he's been pretty aggressive in adding to his jd.com and Alibaba shares but in addition to that I find it noteworthy that Michael bur has been selling off entirely his Google alphabet shares and his Amazon shares Warner Brothers Discovery and something that has an almost similar ticker symbol to birkshire but it's called brkr Brooker Corp which I've never heard of but he sold out of that entirely so definitely some interesting moves like why would Michael bur sell out of some of the big tech stocks that's something that that I'm wondering about who knows why he might be buying all kinds of things and selling things but definitely kind of an interesting person to sort of study and see if you can figure out in reverse engineer why he's made some of his investment moves and finally I'd like to mention Greg Alexander of Conifer management I don't always talk about Greg's Investments but in this case it's interesting to see that there are a number of car related type of Holdings that Conifer management has and interestingly while Greg Alexander used to be really bullish on stantis the maker of Fiat Chrysler and Jeep and RAM and a lot of the pujo related cars that were joined up in this big uh conglomerate stla it looks like Greg is no longer as bullish on that because he reduced his stellantis holding by almost half and then I I don't know what's entailed with with a lot of these other stocks but he's also still got a pretty significant holding in Lithia Motors which I've talked about with my friend Alejandro so if you want to learn about lithium Motors feel free to check that out but otherwise with Greg's Holdings it's just interesting to periodically check back in on those because he's a really great investor as well I know Warren Buffett respects this investor so if you're curious to learn definitely take a look at his portfolio and holdings and see if if you have any interest in them because maybe you're really into the automotive industry and some of these might be compelling moves they're not really compelling that much for me I'm not so knowledgeable about cars so I'm staying away from that for now but there could be something among these investors portfolios that could Peak your interest and make you want to learn more and even if you don't invest in them it's definitely a great learning exercise size so I just wanted to catch us up on some of the latest of what these investors were invested in that we would know about and I'm still going to ponder what would Berkshire hathway AKA Warren Buffett invest in I kind of wonder what will be next why would Berkshire rather have way more cash than invest or stay invested in apple like instead of buying back shares of either apple or Berkshire half the way shares itself Berkshire would rather have more cash so what could waren Buffett be thinking in being more conservative in having uh maybe a fifth or a quarter of berkshire's wealth be in cash essentially like could there be a potential stock market buying opportunity in the near future or is Berkshire buying whole companies is that why Berkshire needs a lot of cash on hand I know that Buffett said that they have no no plans to buy entirely ocidental petroleum so if they're only going to basically keep their rough amount of oxy that they own now what else is there that Berkshire could buy out either in the stock market as a partial Equity holding or if Berkshire wants to buy more whole companies to make a future subsidiary of Berkshire if you have any thoughts or want to share any of your speculations feel free to do so in the comments and if you you enjoyed this video or learned something please like And subscribe and I wish you well on your
