01. Hello everyone, Kevin here with Tuesday's stimulus news. I can't believe what Kevin Hassett just suggested. Kevin Hassett is the White House economic adviser, and I think he may be taking a cue from Donald Trump, because on May 5, Donald Trump suggested a possible reduction in the capital gains tax or hinted at its temporary elimination .

02. So, Kevin Hassett put forward yesterday, well, it was actually late on Sunday, a proposal for a temporary capital gains tax holiday . If you don't quite understand how this will work, think about this. If you bought Amazon stock for, say, a thousand dollars, and it's now worth two thousand five hundred dollars, and you sold it, you would have to pay taxes on one and a half thousand dollars of profit.

03. That means, you know, rich people could pay seven hundred and fifty dollars in taxes. People who aren't that rich might pay, I don't know, somewhere around five hundred dollars in taxes, right? But it would be a significant tax hit if you sold your stocks after making money on them . Well, the temporary capital gains tax holiday that Kevin Hassett, I recall, the White House economic adviser, just proposed would be literally the biggest , fattest stimulus that could be given to every wealthy person in America.

04. This literally, to me, only benefits people who own stocks or real estate, which is kind of the theme of my channel. If you have n't noticed yet, I'm talking about stocks and real estate, and how the reason the gap between rich and poor continues to widen is because the rich own assets like stocks and real estate.

05. That's why I have a program about the psychology of money and real estate investing, right? To help people with zero capital finally get involved in this, because it's funny. Why does this always happen, huh? It seems like the rich are getting help first. It should be the other way around. This is somehow wrong.

06. But anyway, this is what Kevin Hassett actually proposed—a temporary capital gains tax holiday . It would be interesting to see how this would potentially stimulate the economy. Although personally I don't think it will help. I think many people will just sell all their assets, wait, you know, some mandatory minimum waiting periods, and then buy them back right away.

07. It's going to be total chaos, okay? But anyway, let's move on to the more important story about stimulus and what's going on between Democrats and Republicans, from this morning's Journal. Thanks to the Washington Post, by the way, for the information about Kevin Hassett. So, before I quickly remind you, or before I get into the details of what's going on with bipartisan support for something new between Democrats and Republicans, I just want to quickly remind you, well, not remind you, but tell you that I've extended that discount coupon below for programs through the end of the month.

08. Mainly because on the 24th , when it was supposed to end, I got a bunch of emails from people like, " Can we just extend it for a week? I...I want to get paid one more time." Or can we set up a payment plan? The easiest thing for all of you is to simply extend it until the end of the month. So it was extended.

09. Check it out below if you haven't already . Okay, I'll go live in the group after posting this video. Okay, now let's get to what the magazine wrote about. So, this morning the Journal published a piece about where bipartisan support for the next kind of stimulus is growing. This is this article, and it's actually about wage subsidies.

10. Let me explain this because the article itself doesn't make it very easy to understand. So, here's what's essentially happening. We know that Republicans advocate for smaller government. This usually means smaller or no payments. They are not thrilled about this $600 unemployment benefit increase. Not thrilled about this.

11. Not thrilled with periodic stimulation. Maybe not even excited about stimulation at all . Although it seems they were persuaded to agree to a potential another $1,200 incentive payment. Democrats , on the other hand, support all of these things, right? $600, incentive offers of $2,000 per month, at least an offer of $1,200.

12. So, many checks or fewer checks? Well, the middle ground is important because that's how our government works. And you know, unfortunately, without taking sides, Democrats or Republicans, it's just unfortunately, when it comes to more money, Republicans have more power than Democrats. We know this. Well, that's a compromise for now.

13. The compromise is perhaps what is called a wage subsidy. And it works as a loan to retain employees. It already exists under the first Cares Act. And this essentially means that if an employer pays an employee, for example, $10,000, they can get back up to 50% in tax credits if the company's revenue falls below a certain level.

14. Well, there's a new proposal in the Heroes Act that says, "Hey, if your business, like Disney, has a drop in revenue, we'll take over, meaning the government will pay up to 80% of your wages in the form of loan reimbursement." And you're like, "Wow, Kevin, this is kind of complicated." Yes, that's right .

15. That's why I won't read this article to you. Not that I ever read you articles. But the good thing about this is that it helps business. Look, this is great for business. Any business with fewer than 1,500 employees can take full advantage of this benefit. Any business with more than 1,500 employees can partially take advantage of this benefit.

16. There are some limitations. This only applies to employees on forced leave. But it's not so good for individual workers. So, if you're an employee, bipartisan support for this is just a distraction. This means nothing to you. This is essentially worthless. It's also not very good for people who are obviously completely unemployed, on disability benefits or something like that.

17. So I assume this will be part of the upcoming stimulus round. But this is worth keeping an eye on, because it's something that's currently receiving significant support from both Democrats and Republicans. In fact, the top Republican on the House Ways and Means Committee , which deals with tax issues, supports it.

18. And other Republicans have already supported expanding this wage subsidy. So , if you're completely confused, let me simplify it another way . Essentially, the government is saying, “Hey, business people. "If you make less this year than last, we will pay you to bring your workers back." . You can use both programs.

19. You can't get double the benefits at the same time, but you can use both. You just need to properly time your use. This is a more specialized thing, right? But the point is, the government is proposing a new potential plan, and if it gets passed, you know what? We will pay up to 80% of your salary up to a certain level.

20. This is great for companies like Disney, or even a lot of the small businesses in the city that want to take advantage of these benefits, but I'll tell you, all these tax credits and payroll benefits— it's very complicated. And I'm not sure that would give us, as consumers or even as workers, confidence, would it ?

21. Sure, it might help our manager tip us or pay us to just stand there waiting for customers, but it certainly doesn't give us, as individuals, any more incentive. And it will even be difficult for small businesses. So I'm not thrilled about it, not thrilled that it's getting significant bipartisan support, but it's understandable why there's so much talk about it, because it's a middle ground.

22. This is not, you know, another direct payment, and this, you know, leans more in the Republican direction. Again , we still expect that $1,200, we still expect to see some kind of continuation of unemployment benefits, although probably not the full $600 per week bonus anymore. I think it would be good to have at least some continuation of this as our economy opens up , but that's exactly what we're seeing right now .

23. Interestingly, the plan also provides funds to employers to cover expenses such as rent and other fixed costs. And again , this will also apply to gig economy workers. So, it is also estimated that this will affect approximately 37% of all employees . And they see it as a bipartisan solution because they see it as a cost- effective way to stimulate businesses that need help, because it only applies to companies whose revenues have fallen this year, as opposed to everyone who could qualify for the Paycheck Protection Program, for example.

24. Now I would also like to give a brief overview of the stock market, but I want to say a little more about the next round of stimulus. Expect a busy week. I expect much more information about what exactly the Democrats and Republicans are negotiating. So stay tuned for more information regarding the stock market.

25. Obviously, the market is simply exploding today. Many positions in the green sector. How about we buy Amazon stock together now? Let's do a transaction with Amazon. We will buy one share of Amazon . You know what? Let's buy two Amazon shares together now. Good? Let's just do it. We will buy them, and that's good.

26. Ideally. Confirm. OK. I am entering data. And so it is . Confirmed. We just bought two shares and it looks like the order has already been filled. That's it. So, that's it, friends. Thank you very much for watching. Please subscribe, and see you next time.
