Hello friends, today we are going to talk about an investor who became a hero from zero, who faced many struggles in his life and overcame them and today is sitting at a new position. [Sound of clearing throat] That investor is from our India. Not at all what you are thinking of. He is Vijay Kedia. A little boy used to roam the streets of Kolkata with dreams.
The name was Vijay Kedia. Born in 1959 in a Marwari business family. Dad had a business but money was always tight at home. Vijay saw poverty in his childhood. What is compulsion? He was an average student in school but had a sharp mind. I was friends with the numbers but life was a new battle every day .
Sometimes there is no milk at home and sometimes there are no fees for school. There is a lot of pressure on father also. There is a lot of pressure even in Vijay. There came a time when he did not have money to buy milk for his child. I first heard about the stock market at the age of 14 and since then I fell in love with it.
I did my first trade at the age of 19 without any mentor or guidance. The first few years only resulted in losses. Every loss became a new lesson. But Vijay learned patience and his love for the market never diminished. Left Kolkata, came to Mumbai with clothes in a suitcase and dreams in mind, neither money nor network, only passion, struggle at night, stocks during the day, sometimes travelling in local train, sometimes living in a small place, sometimes illness caught him, sometimes depression gripped him, Vijay never gave up, he said when there is nothing left to lose, then there is the whole world to gain, in 2004 Vijay chose three small stocks which included Atul Auto, Ageas Logistics and Shera Sanary Wear.
These stocks gave 100X returns in the next 10 years. This was the turning point where the journey from investor to legend began. His mantra was simple. Buy right seat tight. India's bull run was predicted in 2012 and proved to be correct. Business World included him in the list of top 15 successful investors.
He also shared investing principles at Terex London Business School and a forum. His style was simple. No jargon, just wisdom. Along with stock, Vijay Keria is also passionate about music and dance. He sings in his interviews. Let's dance. They call him a full entertainer. Life is not just about making money.
