01. greetings members wanted all of the salivation nation Warren Buffett a name synonymous with success and riches and that is certainly the case Warren Buffett has been very successful and earned a lot of money over the years we're going to explore that and more about his views regarding gold this article was sent to me by Aug CH and it comes from Yahoo Finance let's take a look Warren Buffett has long been a booster of American business in his annual letter to Brookshire Hathaway shareholders published last Saturday Buffett not only touts the United States economic track record but also takes a jab at doomsayers he's met along the way including a younger version of himself a March 11th it will be 77 years since I first invested in an American business Buffett writes the year was 1942 I was 11 and I went all-in investing on her $14.75 I had begun accumulating at age six what I bought was three shares of city's services preferred stock I had become a capitalist and it felt good Buffett notes and on that day in 1942 the United States prospects in world war two appeared challenging but Buffett writes that leaving aside congenital pessimists Americans believe that their children and generations Beyond will live far better lives than they themselves had and led the nation expected post-war growth a belief that proved to be well-founded in fact the nation's achievements can best be described as breathtaking the amount Buffett invested in those preferred shares of cities services service $14.75 would have grown six hundred 6811 dollars if invested in their No Fee index fund tracking the S&P 500 and Buffett rights a million dollars vested in the same instrument the same time would have grown to 5.3 billion dollars of course there's no way to capture exact returns on the S&P 500 without incurring any cost but the point is well taking taking investing in common stocks of US companies companies has been a good bet over the last 77 years during which American companies have enjoyed these stellar returns a lot has change in the country and its financial standing the national debt for instance is now more than 22 trillion dollars those worried about acutely those worried most acutely about this debt load a note the overhang presents a challenge to future economic growth a financial burden from future generations and risk the status of the dollar as the world's reserve currency and that is something to take note for sure and here he says how gold wouldn't have saved you Buffett knows that for many this debt burden makes investing in a hard asset like gold attractive one day the debt must be dealt with and that day will be a painful one for investors the thinking goes but to buffett it will be and has been more painful for investors to try and anticipate that day of reckoning for the US government well as doing the american tailwind has been so kind him and many other investors those who regularly preach doom because the of government budget deficits as I regularly did myself for many years might note that the country's national debt has increased roughly faunal fold during the last of my 77 year periods Buffett writes that's 40,000 percent suppose you had foreseen this increase and panicked at the prospect of runaway deficits and a worthless currency to protect yourself you might have issued stocks or rescued stocks and opted instead to buy 3.25 ounces of gold with the 114 dollars and 75 cents and that would have supposed protection that you would have delivered you would now have an asset worth about 4 thousand two hundred dollars less than one percent of what had been realized from a simple unmanaged investment in American business the magical meadow was no match for the American metal as long as in the long run a buffa notes were all dead anyway and along the way towards an interval end there are those who believe that they alone four see how the collective story concludes perhaps it is with the runaway inflation rioting in the streets collapse in modern economic system but in this year's shareholder letter as he has in recent editions Buffett reminded readers of the financial calamities endured and endured during his own investing career the reminders not however to need to heed history's warnings but to recall that in difficult moments of the of this history eventually becoming history our country is almost unbelievably prosperity has been gained in a bipartisan manner Buffett writes since 1942 we have had seven Republican presidents and seven Democrats in the years they served the country contended with various tines of a long period of viral inflation a 21% prime rate several controversial and costly Wars the resignation of her president of pervasive collapse at homes values a paralyzing financial panic and a host of other problems all in engendered scary headlines all are now history Christopher Wren architect of st.

02. Paul's Cathedral lies brain within that London Church the nearest tomb are posted these words of description if you would seek my monument look around you those skeptical of Americans economic PlayBook should heed this message Buffett also reminds readers at the story of America's economic success is a shared one in a country of self-made success stories no one truly meets the definition Charlie and I have happily acknowledged that much of Berkshire success has simply been at conduct a product of what I think should be called the American tailwind buffa right it's beyond arrogance for American business or individuals to to boast that they have done it alone the tiny rows of simple white crosses of Normandy should shame those who make such claims there are also many other countries around the world that have bright futures about that we should rejoice Americans have will be both more prosperous and safer if all nations thrive at Berkshire we hoped invest significantly sums across borders over the next 77 years however the major source of our gains will most likely be provided by the American tailwind we are lucky lucky gloriously lucky to have that force at our back I know though you know with a basic premise of what he's saying here I actually don't disagree with this very lessons I do I don't know a tribute to luck attributed to perseverance the capitalistic system and individual freedom and responsibility and but the sort of the patriot the patriotism kind of astounded in this piece here and about how America has been built financially economically and even as to be compared with his own personal success I think is wonderful and I applaud him for his success for sure but he's misjudging gold just as Dave Ramsey's misjudge gold you know looks like that you know that Buffett as well is looking at it really as a barbarous relic you know and here he is a relatively old guy and but nonetheless gold is not there to make you money gold is simply there to preserve your wealth and so when he makes the comparison of the hundred $14.75 that he would have put towards gold and would have cash it out today and what is it though you know $4,200 it did its job it did what it was supposed to do those people that hold gold simply do so to protect the the well it is the ultimate safe haven it is the way to protect yourself against economic instability and and the like and so it is for a case if there were ever a doomsday scenario but even as such even if there's not a doomsday scenario would ever arise gold is a protection it is a safe haven you see at work in the markets every day whenever there's turmoil in the markets whenever there's any kind of uncertainty where do people turn to they turned to gold the dollar index Falls Gold Rises they work invest inversely to each other because of situations just as such now people that hold gold there's many people in this community of which I am NOT a member because I don't feel that I have or want or you know the the the risk I'm risk very risk-averse so I don't take the risk that people like Warren Buffett have there's people that invest in many different things in the stock market and have done very well and I think they should stay in the markets if they can make money no matter how they do it I applaud them greatly I applaud Warren Buffett and we even hold diametrically opposed political views but I applaud his success I celebrate it he's done very well you know even if you inherit a bunch of money if you can make it work for you and make it grow but I applaud you for it because that's not something that's easy to do in any economy but the fact that he has the smarts know how to do it I think as applauded abour but at the same time people who hold gold I don't think that we should be lumped in as these doomsayers you know or what-have-you but even for those people who do put or go all-in on gold so to speak those people are at least protected by what they do put and it's the safest way to protect yourself and and that measure is only made in the long term and but make no mistake that you know this is a fundamental misunderstanding of what gold's purpose is for him to make this comparison is full hearted at the best and this is a prime example of why I don't see gold as an investment because people like Warren Buffett and Dave Ramsey and others who are critical of gold they see it as a poor investment because it is because it's not an investment at all it's not gonna perform it's not gonna pay dividends but if you also take a look at the long-term numbers I'm gonna trust the comparison that he did with his with his uh with where he put his money in how we invested in American companies and made out like a bandit those are calculated risks calculated investment strategies that he did it or paid off because he's smart but if you take the average of everything from the sp500 gold which was mentioned this article the best comparisons you see that actually because of the devaluation the dollar gold have done just as well as the S&P 500 an example of that can be shown in a video by bilang P his most recent video to which I'll post in the description of this video below I encourage you to watch that video and that is gonna be the best definition and the best example of how gold can protect you and really how stocks investing the stocks in the and in and the markets is fine to do but really both just protect you from the devaluation and the destruction of the dollar in closing I will say this that you know he's kind of looking back that of history and how there's bad economic times his economic cycles and I do agree with him with regards to those cycles there are natural cycles doesn't matter who's president as long as we hold on to the the free market capitalism that we have in some semblance you're gonna have natural cycles that's part of what happens but in the end what we're doing as a nation and what we've been doing as a nation especially since the Federal Reserve System has been established in 1913 and how we're spending much more in creating currency and explosive debt and deficit spending that will not go on forever it will come back to bite us we can't ignore it we can't continue to kick the can down the road Warren Buffett is suspiciously dismissive of this fact you would think a man of his age and of his knowledge and caliber he would be more worried about it now than ever before that concerns me should concern all of us we cannot continue in the path that we're going on with the spending problem in this country with this debt problem sooner or later faith will be lost in that system and in those currency in our our currencies this is why we hold gold this is why we stack silver this is why we will continue to protect ourselves to be our own reserve banks when the federal government doesn't have much of reserve and fiscal responsibility post your thoughts below thanks again au g CH for sending this information along to me very enlightening and eye-opening and another reason to mix the bolstering argument to hold gold and silver I'd like to extend a multitude of gratitude you all for watching and encourage you to please rate comment and subscribe you
