Well, if it doesn't work, they'll have more dollars left to put to work. So I really think that the Ministry of Finance has a lot of resources at its disposal.
So I think it will work, although the market is a little hesitant, and of course Jackson Hole is coming up this week, and I think that could bring some clarity and offset any risk premium that's built into the yield. Growing opposition to data centers seems to be affecting this stock market trading.
This is because if data centers cannot be built, then the whole “bottleneck” idea looks less reliable. So I think what we've seen in Ohio, Florida, Texas and Pennsylvania, where governors are imposing potential moratoriums or even voters are saying it's a political issue, is giving investors pause. What if that doesn't change?
I mean, I'm literally looking at one of the most recent polls I saw earlier today, and support is falling across all political parties. So, I think what this tells us is that the AI industry, especially the labs , need to start getting the message across that this is not the end of the world. I think this is very important because this political issue could become a problem.
But that's exactly why stocks of companies using AI are starting to perform. The software performed well this week . Even biotechnology and then crypto, because they are all derivatives of the AI story. What are you for? Do you expect us to forget the fact that about a year and a half ago you said quite specifically that within 1-5 years 50 % of entry-level office workers would lose their jobs?
And these weren't just some idle speculation on a podcast. This was something they engineered and blew up into a full-scale media campaign. Campaigns aimed at making people fear AI. Why is the public so afraid of AI? They think he will take their jobs. They think he's going to be the Terminator. These are precisely the fears that Anthropic has thrown into the media space, and no company, and therefore no founder-CEO, has done more to promote, inflate, and amplify these fears than Dario.
And the fact that he does n't see this makes him, I would say, insincere or delusional . I'm leaning towards the latter. So this is the first point. And I really think that almost everyone who read this and paid attention felt the same way. It's like, "Dario, you really have a blind spot about your own behavior." By the way, can we discuss this for a second, or not?
Yes, come on. Just to develop your point. The problem we have now is actually quite serious. If I had to take three different vectors of action and combine them, we would see a very disjointed, disorganized, and frankly, sanctimonious and insincere narrative of AI doom that was planted and is now growing, and this is what it leads to.
I was very shocked when I saw Texas Governor Abbott issue an executive order on Texas data centers, restricting their development. Josh Shapiro in Pennsylvania just did the same thing. Axios reported that the Republican Party sent a memo to the heads of various AI companies, essentially saying, “Hey, stop provoking people because we’re about to lose a critical Senate race in Ohio.” Largely because of this issue.
So, we have a doomsday scenario, and now we have political backlash on both sides, which I think is extremely dangerous. AI. Security. Biotechnology. AI. For. Language. AI agent. AI agent. Donan.
