all right so welcome to week one of our investing challenge so as you'll remember from last time we set up a pepper call strategy using the ETF Tiki GTO that does triple what the Nasdaq does so if you haven't seen last times video yet it in turn to go back just gonna give you the full set up for the trade I'll give you just a little reminder in this video so what we're gonna do is look at how that's done over the last week whether or not it was a good decision and where we are doing for the week ahead so just as a reminder this is not financial advice it's just for educational entertainment purposes it's just my investment strategy that may or may not work so we're gonna see together and and play this up and again I'd love any comments or thoughts you have on the strategy in the comments so to remind you again we're using TQ TQ and for this last time we sold a cover call that had closed the business Friday which is what we're using for our initial price was priced at 3 dollars and 27 cents so I was paid three hundred twenty seven dollars since one call it corresponds with 100 shares of stocks at three hundred twenty seven dollars in order to be willing to sell my shares if they got above forty eight dollars per share and for a while less we do look like that was going to happen DT huge shot up at the start of the week but then later on it dropped a drop down as the week progressed so Friday afternoon it's when I was looking at managing my Tiki Cube position and at the time it was at forty 1.01 it actually ended up a little better it ended up 42 42 as you'll see but at the time it really slid and just um it slid the whole day honestly but with that since it was below $40 a share you know that option that I sold for $3 and 27 since per share is basically worthless they're selling for one and a half cents per share so I have a couple options now with this so if I do nothing if I just wait then come Monday I will have my hundred shares and there won't be any call option against it ill just expire worthless and I can sell a new option at that point however when I've often found is there's a lot of premium you can get a lot of extra value in that call option you can get by selling one over the weekend or before the weekend rather and that's especially true right now because I kind of think thoughts are going down next week I think we're gonna end up going and retesting those old lows the March lows so with that I wanted to go ahead and get as much premium as I could and it's much pretention as a traditional see so I decided to roll and we'll see what that means in a little bit but with that let's first look back and see the results for week one and so to orient you to this to the she and a couple things to pay attention to the reason why the start price is lower for my strategy than forty tgq is because I went ahead and subtracted out that options premium we got the three dollars and twenty seven cents so you know since that was money that went into the bank that I was it will sell and then it expired worthless or essentially worthless I was able to basically use that against against the starting value so that's how it becomes a conservative strategy is it reduces your cost basis essentially it reduced it's like how much you paid for the shares so that's why that is the starting price so tqq is the same it's at ETF if but without a call option against it and then I have Q key Q and s py so q ki q is the ETF that traps the Nesta and SP Y trots the sp500 so these are just giving you a broader sense of how the overall market is doing so as you can see from Kiki Q and s py Proctor is down a little bit last week not attend but you know one to two percent overall and with that TTT Q was actually down about four percent so it was down a little bit but you know this is where the strategy shines especially last week where there's so much option premium because there's a lot of volatility in the market so since I had that options premium it really saved me so if it wasn't for that I would have lost the 4% but I had I had that head start because of selling that call because of that I eat down a wind this week I got a 3% gain whereas the market the broader market was down now it won't always feel this way and if we have a sharp sell-off and we very well might this nut suite I'm going to be hurting you'll see but but that is this is the type of week where this strategy shines this is why you do this strategy so so that's a win so you probably can't tell too much from this this is actually a screenshot from the thinkorswim software but just to tell you what I'm doing so what I did here was again called a roll so what I did is I bought back the the April 3rd option that $48 call that I had sold last week I bought that bad for basically nothing and I sold a an option that its buyers this upcoming Friday that is a $42 call option so that means I went ahead and bump that down quite a bit so now if the stock goes above $42 I'm going to have to sell and you know in order to take this you know in order to sell this potential upside I was paid 200 50 dollars for the week - a small commission fee see here's my setup for week two so as I mentioned I went ahead and did a roll and I made the role when tiki-tiki was at 41 which I as a turns out I should have waited because they end up at forty two point four - but nonetheless I doubted credit of two $250 for it again I sold one call for April ninth the tenth Friday is Good Friday so there's no note writing so options expire on Thursday this week soon we'll see yeah I did it very close to where the stock was trading I did because I don't think the markets don't go up this week I think we're gonna end up going down and retesting the lows but we'll see so we'll see how this works I'll see you next weekend and we'll see if I was right or not
