01. The air in Buffett, simply the greatest investor of all time, have you heard of him? Did you know that we can learn a lot from his story, from his teachings? His name is Ramiro Gomes Ferreira. I am an investment manager accredited by the CVM (Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission) and author of the Clube do Valor (Value Club).

02. In today's video, I'm going to talk about the man from the world of investments, Ramiro Gomes Ferreira. My goal in this video is to tell you a little more about the origins and life of the greatest investor in history and also, and mainly, to present three great teachings of order for all investors in the world, that is, for you too.

03. So, if you like investments, I'm sure you'll love this video. If you don't like investments, or maybe you do, then stay with me and, in the meantime, subscribe to the channel, click on that little bell and everything else. As always, while the intro plays on the screen, let's go! I strongly believe that one of the best ways for us to learn something new, and this applies to any area of our lives, is by mirroring the teachings of those who master that area.

04. That's why I chose as the theme for today's video the life and teachings of Ramiro Gomes Ferreira. Master Buffett is now in Durban, the bus, and he's like a living legend in investing. He's considered by many, and I include myself in that group, as the greatest investor of all time. Just to give you a small idea, someone who delegated their investments to the management of the Oracle of Omar, as the bank is affectionately known, had their net worth multiplied by 80,800 times between 1965 and 2016.

05. Someone who invested $10,000 with him back then would have $88 million today. That's over half a century, in which the same $10,000 investment in the S&P 500, the main index of the American stock market, would have turned into only $1,300,000. The return that Buffett provided his shareholders, if you look at it in compound terms, is over 20% per year, and always remember, for more than 50 years.

06. If you watched my video about the 72-year rule (link), you know right away that it means doubling your invested capital every three and a half years or so. Now, what are Buffett's secrets? What is the origin of the superman of investing, and what? What we mere mortals can learn from him... well, before passing on the lessons, I think it's worthwhile to talk a little about Banca's origins.

07. To begin, it's good to emphasize that from a very young age, Banca had a taste for making money, or as they say in the States, from the middle of nowhere, at only six years old he bought boxes of chewing gum wholesale and sold them retail to his school friends, relatives, etc. As he grew up, he started selling crates of Coca-Cola door- to-door, later he started connecting and selling used golf lines, and over time he also sold popcorn and peanuts at Omaha University football games.

08. Still very young, he did odd jobs as a newspaper delivery boy, and with all the capital accumulated from these small jobs, he opened a business renting arcade machines, like "Tac in a Loud Voice," which reminded me of Seu Madruga from Chaves. He was always in Vila Balan Vista. The result of all this was that Banca, who graduated from high school, had a net worth of about $10,000, or the equivalent of $90,000 in today's money if we adjust for inflation.

09. At 17, he graduated with almost $100,000. Normally, after graduating from college in 1950, at 19, he joined the Colombian Embix. (Sorry, the choice of this "nobody" wasn't random.) At that time, Buffett had read dozens of books and analysis kits from * Intelligent Investor* (which in Brazil is *O Investidor Inteligente*) by Benjamin Grau.

10. In 2012, Buffett's dream was to be a student of these authors. Around the same time, Buffett began working at his father's brokerage firm. I have n't mentioned it yet, but Buffett's father worked in the financial market as a brokerage firm, similar to an independent investment agent here in Brazil. However, this first experience in the financial market was very bad for Buffett, especially because of the conflict of interest he saw in the stock brokerage business, which he compared to selling medicine.

11. Here's a quote from his book, *The Snowball Effect*, where he says something like, "It's as if the broker is paid by the number of pills he buys; some pay better than others, but nobody..." Consulting a doctor whose salary depends on the number of pills you take, Buffett felt conflicted at that time.

12. He frequently recommended to his clients, who were his family and friends, that they buy shares in Gay, an American insurance company, advising them that the best thing to do was to buy its shares and hold them for about 20 years or more. Since he was paid for this as a stockbroker, he only made money at the time of purchase.

13. His clients, however, said that without his advice, since 20 years had passed, selling those shares, and so on, in another situation, more or less, it's impossible to make money. The system generates a conflict of interest between his interests and those of his clients because of this dissatisfaction with working as a drug salesman and not as a doctor (in quotes).

14. Buffett sought to shift his career to asset management in 1954. After much insistence, he was hired by an investment management firm, and his mentor, Benjamin Brady, from then on, his career took off years later when both Benjamin Graham and the aforementioned Newman... Great Millman retired, Buffett started his first chip games that worked similarly to today's investment funds, and from there, honestly, the rest is history.

15. The beginning of Buffett's first chip page is in 1965, and that's exactly what I mentioned at the beginning of the video about the multiplication of capital for those who invested in the bank by 8810. With the nice shirt, the Value Club today manages investments through the Berkshire Hathaway holding company and has been at the top of the list of the world's richest men for many years, alternating between the top positions.

16. If you want to know more about his career, I'll leave a link above and in the video description to a super complete article I wrote about his story. In the Value Club, he explains a little more about various techniques because this video, which I do n't want to make too long, I want to talk about what I promised you at the beginning: the three main lessons and the main practical tips for banking, and his first lesson is to create a long-term mindset.

17. One of the main battles that every investor must fight is the battle against The immediacy, the battle against short-term thinking: unfortunately, most discussions about the financial market are based on short timeframes, even headlines like "So-and-so's trailer, Cacimbinha company's recommendations for this week, saying they could rise about 70 percent in a month" or something like that; "Now is the time to invest in dollars, says XP brokerage." This type of headline, which the specialized media constantly posts, is very toxic for investors precisely because it goes completely against long-term thinking.

18. For those who want to eliminate all of this from their lives, it's important to remember that to succeed in investments, as in any other area of life, your actions must be sustainable. Buffett's second lesson is to maintain focus on quality within the financial universe. The strategy used by Warren Buffett in the stock market is known as the "buy and hold" strategy, or "buy and hold." In short, you should buy shares of companies with the intention of holding them forever.

19. Therefore, if you are going to follow this strategy, it is very important that you are very concerned about the quality of the companies invested in from the time of making your investments, and this is... Another banking lesson I take with me for life, and that you can take with you too, is about investing.

20. For me, everything worth doing is worth doing well. You should always prioritize making investment decisions that seek to invest in quality assets. You should always seek quality in everything you do – your relationships, your work tasks, etc. It does n't make sense to... To conclude, I bring here Buffett's third teaching: keep it simple.

21. Within the financial market, there are many jargons, theories, and complex investment strategies, such as efficient Monte Carlo simulations, dynamic asset pricing models, and so on. Even with all the options to follow, Buffett's recommendation is for the investor to maintain simplicity. This means ignoring charts, risk calculations, and focusing your time on what is important when buying a stock and making any investment: the search for asset quality, the search for a good asset price, and good portfolio diversification.

22. Making another parallel in personal life, it would mean trying to start any project in the most difficult way, which sometimes can mean a beginning that will never exist. So my suggestion is: follow Buffett. Take advantage of simplicity at the beginning of any task and only add complexity if necessary.

23. For example, if you're thinking of starting your own business, begin by creating a minimum viable product to see if the idea has potential. If you're applying for a job, for example, Messi creating a resume to send to various companies you aspire to work for, as we try to complicate tasks, it becomes more difficult to do everything, understand?

24. We postpone the start of new projects, so always remember that done is better than perfect, or in short, seek simplicity. Just remember that being simple is different from doing something simplistic. So, you can combine K2, condition 3, and quality and maintain and preserve simplicity. And that's it for today.

25. If you didn't know Buffett, I hope this video has sparked your interest in learning more about the life of the greatest investor in history. And if you already knew him, I hope you enjoyed the brief insights I gave into his professional life. Regardless of whether you know him or not, I hope you enjoyed the 13 lessons from Warren Buffett that I highlighted here.

26. Remember, without having a vision... In the long term, always strive for quality and maintain simplicity, which, as you rightly said, is very different from doing things poorly. It's essential for your success, and here I'm talking about both your financial success— being a successful investor—and having a better and more meaningful life.

27. This video format is great, so share your thoughts with me in the comments. If this video is well-received, I can repeat it with other big names in the investment world. And of course, don't forget to share these videos on social media, which will give you a like, and subscribe to the channel to watch more videos about financial education, personal growth, and investments. A big hug, and until next time!
