Okay, if I ask you, take a piece of paper, how many times can you fold it? This paper is a normal thin paper, the kind found in a normal book page. Now, many of you will say, "Sir, I can fold it four times." Many of you will say, "I can fold it five times." Those of us who go to the gym will probably say, " I can fold it eight times." But what if someone folds this paper 45 times?
Many of you will laugh and say, "No one can fold a paper 45 times." It becomes very difficult after four or five folds. But that's not the question. Suppose a piece of paper as big as a newspaper or even bigger, how thick will it become when we fold it? Will it be as thick as the width of your mobile phone, or will it be as thick as your height, or will it be as thick as the height of your house or building, or that's okay.
You can pause this video. And you can guess how thick it will be. I hope you have guessed it. If I tell you that it will be much thicker than the world's tallest building, Burj Khalifa, what will you think? You will say that this cannot happen. But if I tell you the reality, if you fold a paper 45 times, then you will cover the distance from Earth to the Moon, that is, this paper will become so thick.
And if you fold it one more time, that is, 46 times, then this paper will become so thick that you can reach from Earth to Moon and from Moon back to Earth. I know, this must be very difficult to imagine. And before I explain the concept of compounding in more detail, let us do some calculations in simple language for this example and see whether what I have said is correct or not.
Look, the thickness of a paper is almost 0.001 cm. Now, if we fold this paper for the first time, then its thickness will be The thickness will become 0.002 cm. If we fold it one more time, its thickness will be 0.004 cm. If we fold it one more time, then its thickness will be 0.008 cm. If we fold it one more time, then its thickness will be 0.016 cm.
And so on. But if we fold it for the 10th time, then its thickness will become 1.024 cm. If we fold it for the 20th time, then it will become 1048 cm, that is, around 34 feet, which means that it is approximately as thick as a 3-storey building. If we fold it for the 45th time, then it will become 3.5 million km thick, that is, the distance from the Earth to the Moon.
And if you fold it just one more time, then its thickness will become around 7 lakh km, that is, we can go from Earth to Moon and back from Moon. The effect of compounding can be understood with another interesting example. Suppose you take a MT test tube at 8:00 in the morning and put five-six penicillins in it.
If you add 1000 bacteria, let's say each bacterium can double itself every second. If you know that this test tube is full at 12:00 noon, then the question is, when was the test tube half full? Those of you who are intelligent understand that this test tube was half full just one second before 12:00, because bacteria are doubling themselves every second.
But just imagine what happened just six or seven seconds before 12:00. If someone were looking at the test tube at that time, it would appear almost empty, with very few bacteria visible. We would think, " Yes, friend, everything is fine. I don't know how long it will take to fill this entire test tube," because for the last three or four hours, this test tube has only been filled to this extent.
But what will happen after just five seconds? Just like magic, this test tube will be completely full, and this is the process of compounding, the exponential growth. Next, let's talk about the most interesting topic for most people: compounding of money. Let's say Two children were born in one year.
One was you and the other was your best friend's. Both your parents have a long vision and understand the importance of money. Therefore, when you were born, your parents collected all the gifts or money your relatives had given you and sold them and deposited ₹1 lakh for you in an FD at a simple interest rate of 15%.
Your friend's parents also invested ₹1 lakh in Nifty index funds as soon as their child was born, where they too were getting an average rate of return of 15%, but this was to be compounded. The goal of both the parents was that the children would not get a pension because the government was introducing such schemes, hence the money would be useful for your retirement.
Yes, they were so long-visioned that they thought not only about their own retirement but also about your retirement when you were born. Now, you and your friend grow up, get a good education, and get jobs, and that day comes when You retire, both of you are now 58 years old. Your parents are also with you.
They have grown a little older, but they still love you as much as they did when you were young. They tell you both that they saved money for you since childhood, which you can withdraw today. You check in the bank and find that at 15 pence simple interest, that money has grown 99.7 times, i.e. 9700.
Obviously, you are happy that you could not have just played with the gifts you received at birth. It is better that this ₹1 lakh will come in handy. After this, your friend looks at his amount, which was being compounded every year since 15 pence, and it has now become ₹1 lakh 33 crore 9388. Now there is no need to get too emotional because I used this example to show the power of compounding by extending the timeline.
And where is ₹ crore investment amount also same investment time also same even investment percentage is also same Friends, if you have a long vision and are interested in investment then you can download the Se Upsto app from the link given in the description or from the link in the first comment. From that link you can create your free Demat account and initially you can try the investment strategy by investing very little money.
In my recommendation we should try only with Nifty 50. Next point says Compounding in Health Just imagine there are three friends Ram, Shyam and Rahul all three have identical weights, identical eating habits, identical exercise habits too. The weight of all three is exactly the same, 75 kg. All three of them have a habit of eating a chocolate every evening after dinner.
Now there is only one change in their eating habits. Rahul starts eating extra chocolate in the evening. Ram stops eating chocolate at night and does not bring any change in himself. Now after 3 years Rahul who If he was eating one extra chocolate every day, his weight would increase to 93 kg, whereas in the evening his weight would remain the same and Ram's weight would decrease from 75 kg to around 57 kg.
Obviously, with this one extra chocolate every day, Rahul gained 17.7 kg, which can ultimately lead to high cholesterol level, frustration and other diseases. The point is that a small change can create a compound effect in the long run. The next point is compounding and knowledge. Warren Buffett says that every day invest some time in knowledge.
This is how knowledge builds and keeps giving us compound interest. Do you know that when Elon Musk was young and was starting his initial company , he could complete 15 to 18 books in a year. Which is outstanding. They say that the person who does not read books, his brain also remains the same, which poor fellow cannot even read.
So the point is spend at least 15 to 20 Minutes a Day for Your Knowledge Because Investment and Knowledge Page The Highest Interest So once we look at all the points together, then in the beginning we first saw that if we fold a paper 45 times, then its thickness will become so much that it can cover the distance from Earth to the Moon.
If we fold the same paper one more time i.e. 46 times, then it will take us back from Moon to Earth as well. Then we talked about penicillin bacteria, if their growth is also compounding, then how in 5 seconds the bacteria can fill an almost empty test tube into a full test tube, which obviously reminds us of Corona virus.
After this we saw how in 58 years simple interest at 15% makes 1 lakh become close to 10 lakh, but on the same side compound interest makes 1 lakh become around 33 crore. After that we saw in Compound Effect Health that how eating a chocolate of 125 calories increases life span by 3 years How can someone's weight increase up to 17 kg, which obviously leads to cumulate effect and finally we saw that if we spend just 15 to 20 minutes every day on our knowledge, then we can complete 10 to 15 books in a year.
If we do n't want to read, then we can at least listen to audio when we do something unprepared. Friends, if you want to implement the principle of compounding in your life, then just spend 15 to 20 minutes whenever you are free, walking, exercising or even in the washroom, listen to one great idea which will take you towards success.
In the first 20-30 days, it will seem that nothing is happening, but then exponential growth will start.
