I was with a sovereign wealth fund this week, and that was the conversation: "Oh, we should have a 2% allocation. Oh, we should have a 5% allocation." If everyone adopted that conversation, it would be $500,000, $600,000, $700,000 per bitcoin. So when you look at the supremacy of artificial intelligence, which I assume is what we're going to analyze, the global dominance for artificial intelligence seemed like last year, two years ago, it was about talent, it was about the right chips, it was about the right technology, and now it's all about infrastructure.
So they announced with Microsoft, basically a $30 billion fund, and that was just equity. We raised another $100 billion in debt. It's 100% in debt. Talk to me, Larry, about the reason for this. I mean, infrastructure. If you don't have the right infrastructure, you can't be a major player in artificial intelligence.
Well, oh, hi everyone. Look, we have great partners with G42 and MGX. But let me talk about the concept first. Yes, it's still about people. We do n't have enough electricians in the world to meet the need to build This infrastructure, which is about national security, has enormous geopolitical problems surrounding it, and we could talk about what the Biden administration announced last week regarding the approvals that will be necessary to have advanced technologies in different countries.
So it has many geopolitical problems, but as fantastic as our hype scalers and the United States are, right now we have the best technological platform in the world. We have five or six major companies that are at the forefront of technology, but as big as they are— some with over $3 trillion in market capitalization, some with $70 billion in free cash flow—they don't have enough money to build this.
And I'm writing about the evolution of capital markets, and I think this will probably be the first time in our lives that capital markets, in terms of very strategic growth, are going to play a very important role. Just as you heard, the magnate and CEO of BlackRock believes that Bitcoin will reach between $500,000 and $ 700,000 with institutional adoption.
How will that be achieved, and how will the infrastructure that will support artificial intelligence be financed? The future of the revolution reveals the truth behind the massive funding needed to drive the next great technological revolution, from trillions of dollars in investment to the impact on global geopolitics.
Recently, Larry Fink explained in an interview how building the infrastructure for AI is an unprecedented financial challenge. Even though giants like Microsoft and Nvidia are leading the revolution, they don't even have enough capital to do it alone. Fink details the connection between technology, capital, and energy, and why this will be one of the biggest investments in history.
Be sure to stay until the end of the video; you'll discover why Larry F believes that blockchain and the tokenization of financial assets will completely change global markets. The crypto renaissance has already begun, and you'll be surprised by what's coming. Let's watch the interview where Larry Fink explains the crucial role of energy in the artificial intelligence revolution.
From the builder-operator's point of view: How much energy do you need for this? There are new partners you absolutely have to bring on board. We absolutely need energy partners to be able to make this a viable global business, and hopefully this generates a conversation about the role nuclear energy will play in the energy mix.
I mean, I do n't think we have the energy available if it's going to be 300 GW globally. Keep in mind that we have to service it. You know, it's very important if you're going to build a data center that benefits the local community. Energy for the average consumer. So I can't raise electricity prices or it won't work.
And so in every case, you have to work with the local community and the government, working together. In many cases, it's going to require—if we assume, rounding up, that I need one gigawatt of energy—we're going to have to source that energy. We're not going to take it from the grid. And if we do, Larry, if as investors and builders we take energy from the grid, we've committed to building additional capacity for the local community.
That's why this triumvirate of energy, data, and capital is all integrated. It's like a triangle. But there's been a lot of talk about using renewable energy, and now it's out of consideration by the Trump administration. I mean... I absolutely do not think that every hyperscale project has long-term aspirations to use more and more renewable energy, but in the short term, let's be clear, it's going to be heavily fueled by natural gas.
Natural gas in the United States will be supplemented by renewables. And, as I said, hopefully it will generate a whole conversation about the role of nuclear power in the future. And it should be a conversation we have today because we're going to need it, you know. Unless fusion really works and we have new sources of energy, you know, we're going to need it.
You know, if you think about a game of Monopoly, the worst part of the Monopoly game is having a utility company, right? You never want to have a utility company; you want a bank. But these utility companies, these electric companies, are really important now, absolutely. These utility stocks were crawling and crawling and crawling for many years, and now they're all going up considerably.
They have to play a vital role in this conversation about how important energy is. I'll give you an example: in the United Arab Emirates, what we're talking about is this formula E = MC, we actually changed the formula to E = a I, energy equals intelligence. The more you can have that, the more computing power you can deploy, the more intelligence you can generate.
It delves into the enormous energy consumption that AI will require and the impact this will have on the global energy market. It explains how utility companies, previously seen as unattractive investments, are now essential to the development of this technology. It also addresses the importance of nuclear power and the need to balance energy supply with the expansion of AI.
Now let's look at the most impactful part of the interview: how blockchain, tokenization, and AI will change financial markets. There are two countries that are more advanced in these blockchain technologies than Europe and the United States right now: India and Brazil. They had a need due to inflation, due to corruption; they need a digital currency, and I think this is going to accelerate.
And that will be the next frontier: using artificial intelligence, using this, but crypto is going to play a major role. Digitization of currency, digitization of everything—I'm a big believer in this. It's something that will even change Bloomberg. I think we're going to be at the forefront of tokenizing bonds and stocks, and we have the technology now.
The fact that we're not moving forward with tokenizing every bond and stock is crazy. We should. Moving forward on that front, obviously there are winners and losers and all that, but we need to be prepared for tokenization and further democratizing finance. If we tokenize bonds, by the way, I also expect it to be at least 20% more productive with artificial intelligence.
So it's going to be a fun race, maybe 25, especially in Davos. Tell me a little bit about what you expect the Trump administration to do for crypto specifically. Very well articulated, they have fully embraced cryptocurrencies as a new, not just financial system reform, you know, technology reform, but a new economic engine.
I think they have the thesis that to extend the dominance of the US dollar, they will launch very powerful stablecoins or to promote a wider use of the US dollar. I think this will be a strategy for the administration. So I mean, I see it from BlackRock's perspective: it has been built entirely on hope.
I mean, most of the money we manage is retirement savings. So you ask yourself, why would anyone invest for a 30-year outcome, you know, a 40-year retirement outcome, unless they have hope that in 30 or 40 years the world It's better, and so the whole foundation of what we've done is a foundation of hope.
And we try to promote that concept of hope and get more people to take their money out of a bank account and invest for the long term, right? And that's what we try to do. When I became a student of cryptocurrencies, it became very clear to me that cryptocurrencies are a fear currency, and that's okay to a certain extent.
But that's okay because if you're afraid of the devaluation of your currency or you're afraid of the economic or political stability of your country, there's an internationally based instrument called Bitcoin that will overcome those local fears. And so I'm a big believer in using that as an instrument.
And if that becomes a reality, and you see that it does , it could be a suitable hedge against, perhaps, hope security or stocks. The question is, could there be a 2% or 5% allocation? I was with a sovereign wealth fund this week, and that was the conversation: should we have a 2% allocation? Should we have a 5% allocation?
If everyone adopted that conversation, it would be 00,000 600,000 700,000 for Bitcoin? I'm not promoting that. By the way, that's not my promotion. Bitcoin is just one use case of blockchain, right? Blockchain is a general-purpose technology; it's like artificial intelligence. So with blockchain, you can have paperless contracts, you have seamless transactions, exactly, tokenization.
And one more thing I'll mention, if you'll allow me, Larry, is again the convergence of blockchain and artificial intelligence. Now, with artificial intelligence, you can expect that within this year we'll see deepfakes so realistic you won't be able to tell the difference. People watching this live won't know what's going on here.
We're talking somewhere else. Larry argues that the combination of blockchain and artificial intelligence is about to revolutionize financial markets. He explains how tokenization will allow for more democratized and efficient investment by eliminating intermediaries and improving transparency. He also mentions that BlackRock and other institutions are moving towards the total digitization of assets, which will radically change the way global markets operate.
