the unions are striking uh they're hitting one of each company's factories one Ford factory one GM Factory one from stantis or Chrysler this is going to get bigger this is just the beginning and this is a big problem for those companies but a big opportunity for their Rivals hello my friends welcome to the channel great to see you thank you for tuning in I'm Sam Evans you're watching the electric Viking would love to see you next Saturday the 23rd of September at 1: p.m.

tuned if you listen to kissfm or actually there's a couple of radio channels should be on for an interview a couple of interviews tomorrow as well to talk about what's going on with EVs and what this crazy show is right now going on in the US well that's a very dangerous situation Ford have said that they if they meet Union demands they'll go bankrupt probably the same would apply to General Motors I mean obviously GM went bankrupt in 2008 uh you know what guys I still don't think us companies are more likely to go bankrupt than Japanese ones but this could could happen now what does the mainstream media think about all this well this is what they're saying Tesla could benefit or will benefit from an extended union strike against the Detroit automakers since the texas-based EV brand has ample production capacity to further bolster its dominant market share which is I believe 59.5% this year in the event of vehicle shortages from GM Ford and stellantis we speculate that a prolonged strike would benefit Tesla most due to its production capabilities and opportunity to build on its leading market share position said B equity research now hopefully Tesla can actually get there the new model 3 production together because I know there's a lot of us guys a lot of us buyers men and women of course when I say guys it's a reference to people in general that are waiting for the new model 3 and the other thing worth considering the new model X now does actually qualify for the $7,500 us subsidies meaning it's actually a viable alternative now it wasn't really in the past it's a bit expensive now it is Tesla has like I said 60% share of the EV Market according to analysts and it's Drawing the Line share of consumers switching from gasoline vehicles in the US Tesla does operate plants in California and Texas and of course it has a huge share of the very lucrative California Market I mean it's one of the biggest car markets in the world I think it's actually the sixth biggest car market in the world which is insane because it's only a state 40 million people there and they've got a lot of disposable income to spend on electric cars nearly 13,000 hourly workers at three large assembly plants went on strike early Friday against Ford GM and kryler Paris deltis the target walk out affects gasoline vehicles and it does affect one plug in hybrid the Jeep Wrangler 4xe however this could drastically change clearly the unions and who are backed by the B Administration and GM and Ford and stellantis they're on completely different wavelength they're not even talking here they're not even at the point where they're negotiating there's no negotiations that are even happening there just outlandish demands being made so I don't see this stopping anytime soon future strike actions therefore are inevitable and these future strikes by the unions will affect other plants they've already said that this is just the tip of the iceberg this includes some plants making electric cars if the aut Workers Union decides to step up pressure on the automakers as negotiations drag on this is going to blow out for them GM and Ford late Friday issued layoffs for several hundred additional employees at facilities related to The Struck plants and it's worth keeping in mind that um Ford and GM have also fired thousands of workers this year I think in total between them it's around about 10,000 workers that they've find this year already Tesla will likely benefit says many mainstream media sources which is surprising to hear once a union settlement is reach since it will increase labor costs for the Detroit automakers extending Tesla's cost advantages and its pricing power like I said Tesla it makes us a fairly small profit on EBS in the United States but it's still a profit that's a lot more than what its competition make this will make that situation even it'll swing it even worse for the big three to we view the Detroit 3 as losers in what is more likely to become a prolonged standoff as the two sides become more entrenched said Garrett Nelson vice president of equity research at CF and to put this in context Ford has said that the unions are asking for around $300,000 annual salary uh including incentives and bonuses apparently but but around $300,000 per worker that's a lot of money uh that's I don't think that's remotely possible for these companies to basically operate at a profit I don't see how that would be possible and this is basically squeezing them they're getting squeezed between cost pressures of this new EV disruption everything's being disrupted and then the obviously pressure from the unions and the unions are very concerned in job loss they believe that they want Ford NGM to guarantee there won't be a whole bunch of job losses thanks to electrification but I think there's nothing that they can do about that one danger for Tesla though from an extended strike and for other nonunion EV automakers such as rivan elucid could come from the financial collapse of suppliers due to a sharp drop in sales Dan Ives managing director of equity research at wedbush and Tesla bull believes Tesla is is olated though from disruptions caused by the strike including among suppliers this is a game of high stakes poker and musk and Tesla are the winners said IES referring to Tesla CEO elen musk a longtime critic of the UAW I think one of M biggest reasons for critiquing the unions is what I think is one of the downfalls of politics in Australia in America in many countries around the world where we allow private businesses to impact political power and because of the fact that donations are legal in many Western countries from businesses to politics to polit political companies to political groups what it means is of course those political decisions are then swayed by those companies it's inevitable this happens everywhere and so because the bid Administration always has had the unions on their side they have to back the unions in these negotiations I've said that even when the union and the automakers reach an agreement the deal will add thousands of dollars to vehicle prices for the Legacy Detroit automakers making Tesla vehicles more attractive or the alternative is Ford GM and stanas don't increase prices and therefore make a loss on their vehicles or at least put themselves in a very difficult financial situation he said if the strike last longer than 3 to 4 weeks it will be moderately detrimental to GM and Ford's EV strategy in 2024 while the Detroit stws battle with the unions there's a bottle of champagne it's being iced at Tesla headquarters I also saw rivan as a potential beneficiary since its r1t pickup competes with the Ford F-150 Lightning as of Friday afternoon the Ford plant making the EV pickup was not on strike but apparently it could be next unions have warned that they will continue to increase the number of staff that will be striking if their demands aren't met some analysts have said however that an extended work stoppage at UAW plants could trickle through the supply chain forcing Parts makers to shut down their own plants that could potentially affect non-union automakers including Tesla but no one fully understands the possible ramifications it's a very complex scenario if the strike goes on for too long we think order suppliers could have to cut production and Furlow workers at their plants creating a ripple effect across the entire industry said Nelson importantly the supplies's balance sheets are not as strong as the original equipment manufacturers so suppliers are not in a financial position to just last for months in this situation they could potentially be bankrupt themselves remember when Ford actually paused production last year for months just because it couldn't get badges for its cars well even small things like that can affect production so it remains to be clear how or if this will in fact affect Tesla in the short term though this is clearly a positive situation for Tesla and a negative one for the big automakers ultimately I don't think this is good for anyone in the US but if you had to spin it one way or the other you would say it's likely Tesla stock price will continue to rise in the short term over the next few weeks and it's also likely that Tesla sales will have a bit of a spike this year but those are just my thoughts I want to know what you guys think let me know in the comments thank you for watching bye-bye
